Introduction

Nice dinner before Sonics basketball game.

Flight 1 - Washington White (4 notes)

Four distinct styles of wine, all made in our backyard. $22

White
2005 Silver Lake Gewürztraminer USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington White flight. Just terrible, way too sweet and plasticy.
White
2005 Chateau Ste. Michelle & Dr. Loosen Riesling Eroica USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington White flight. Love this wine, such vibrancy behind the acids, with minimal saccharine quality, and a great balance in the finish. Love the apricot and floral nose.
White
2005 Tamarack Cellars Chardonnay USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington White flight. Grassy and dull.
White
2005 Chateau Ste. Michelle Sauvignon Blanc Marier USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington White flight. Just OK, balanced, but nothing too distinct (for good or bad) to let you know this is Sauv Blanc.

Flight 2 - Washington Red (4 notes)

Home-grown goodness. $28

Red
2004 Chandler Reach Vineyards Merlot USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington Red flight. Not very much like merlot, to us.
Red
2004 Viento Syrah Cuvée R USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington Red flight. Enjoyed this, delicious. Didn't know it was syrah when drinking, but nice.
Red
2002 Northstar Red Wine Stella Maris USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington Red flight. Very big, lots of dense fruit. Needs food.
Red
2004 DeLille Cellars D2 USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
At Purple Cafe, in Washington Red flight. Needs time, thin and bright acids, flavor not fully developed.
