Introduction

90ies and 91s

Flight 1 (1 note)

Red
1991 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
90 points
Probably the best 1991 Bordeaux I've ever had. Rather discrete wine, but good balance, with pencil shavings, a bit of cedar, and not the greenishness that I expected.

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
1990 Château Gruaud Larose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
93 points
Think this drank very well yesterday, after the Montrose 1991 it felt more full-bodied and sweeter with great concentration / power. Decanted about 2 hours ahead.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1991 Penfolds Grange Australia, South Australia
95 points
Wonderful wine - that's how good Shiraz can get in perfection. Sweet, balanced, long; slight peppery nose; Shiraz notes but in an elegant fashion. Still youthful.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
90 points
Showed quite nicely. Medium-bodied and classic Bordeaux feel. Would drink this now.
White - Sweet/Dessert
1990 Château Rieussec France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
92 points
Deep golden color. Sweet but not overly so, some acid overtones which I liked. Pleasant.
