This was a real winner. The nose was a very good balance of sweet raspberries and blueberries. Underneath the fruit was some lead, spice, and vanilla. The palate was full of sweet red berries, a bit of oak, and a touch of spice. It had a really long, tastyh finish.

Another fine Tikal wine. Lots of fruit upfront in the nose. Raspberry, and plum, with a little blueberry. Mixed with the fruit was some earthiness, pencil lead, and just the smallest amount of vanilla. The palate had lots of red berries, together with some graphite, spice, and oak. The finish was great.

I'm becoming a big fan of this winery. Everything I have tasted as been really good. The nose of this malbec was real juicy. Loads of sweet blueberries, as well as some raspberry. This was mixed with some nice earth notes, a bit of spice, and just a touch of vanilla. The palate had a good feel, with raspberry and blueberry fruit, plus some lead, oak, and spice. The finish was excellent.

2003 Ehrhardt Estates Petite Sirah USA, California, Central Valley, San Joaquin County

This petite sirah was not too bad, but not as big as I like. It had a fairly nice nose of sweet raspberry and blueberry. It also had a tiny bit of chocolate, spice, and vanilla. The palate was a little better than the nose. Some raspberry and plum, mixed with graphite, spice, and oak. The finish was pretty good.
Red
2004 Qupé Syrah USA, California, Central Coast

This syrah was a little weak. I liked the nose, though it had a bit too much of a barnyard smell. Behind that was some raspberry, plum, and vanilla. The palate had the same unbalance to it. Forest floor, followed by berries, spice, and oak. The finish was ok, but not very long.
