Introduction

I brought 3 wines. See if you can figure out which one. The Domaine de la Petite Rose is my best value of the year at $3 a bottle on a recent email blast sale.

Flight 1 (6 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Cuvée Brut France, Champagne
92 points
Another stellar bottle. Golden yellow in color with an array of flavors of apples, minerals, chalk, lemon and baked pie crust. Medium finish and good acidity.
White - Sweet/Dessert
2010 Chateau Ste. Michelle Riesling Harvest Select Columbia Valley USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
82 points
Sweet with little acidity. Pear and floral notes dominate on this low interest wine for my palate.
Rosé
2010 Domaine de la Petite Cassagne Costières-de-Nîmes Rosé France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Costières-de-Nîmes
88 points
For $3 how can you go wrong. Watermelon, strawberry, rose petals and minerals. Short to medium finish and refreshing. An excellent QPR.
Red
2005 Columbia Crest Merlot Grand Estates USA, Washington, Columbia Valley
85 points
Ripe fruit, oak and vanilla. Past peak on this bottle but still drinkable.
Red
2006 Armand Roux Bordeaux Verdillac France, Bordeaux
79 points
Given as a gift and not a good example of starter Bordeaux. Simple and light with dust, spice and damp earth. Hardly drinkable.
White - Off-dry
2007 Joh. Jos. Prüm Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
93 points
Wonderful wine with peach, apricots, minerals, slate and floral notes. Some nice sweetness that is balanced by the wonderful acidity. Medium finish and drink or hold.
