Thick and black. Sexy and suave bouquet with notes of black chocolate, luxurious leather, black cherry, balsamic vinegar and fresh espresso. Coconut and vanilla. Huge complexity, with those nutty (walnuts, almonds) hints I often sense in Priorat-wines. I get pictures of a forestfloor during indian summer. This stuff jumps right out of the glass. Very warm, but not hot nor heavy. A class act. 18+/20. Try again in 2 years.

Saturated blood red, medium deep, like most wines this evening. Gobs of milkchocolate dominate this wine. Also currant bread, black cherries, ink, vanillapods. The stereotype association (IMHO) with 'peppered blackberries' is nicely presented here. Medium low-acidity. Somewhat reticent, holding back and seems to close up during the evening. Aftertaste has some length but is slightly lacking in definition and persistence. Nice and dry. So, I guessed Rhone. 17/20

Gorgeous, complex nose of balsamic vinegar, grafite, blackberries, cherries, blueberries, licorice, cinnamon and a large dollop of caramel. Some BBQ later. Tannines still very young, structure is good and length is more than above average! Great wine. 18/20

Purple red, black core. Gruesome bouquet, frigthening. Was a little bit afraid to taste, I have to admit... Chemical, volatile, cranberries maybe? Overripe, even rotting fruit, cabbage. After a while this wine shows vinegar and gherkin. Brother D. hitted the bulls-eye: this juice smells like PICCALILLI! Will never ever forget this bouquet. Had to try a tiny sip: cassis lemonade with a shot of red wine vinegar. Or the other way around. Probably (hopefully...) an off-bottle. If not, I couldn't score more than 12/20

Floral (like orchids) nose. Spicy hints of clove, caramel and cinnamon, but also kirsch, black fruit, coffeebeans and yoghurt. Very nice wine but the oak needs to integrate a little more and there is some VA and overripeness. Maybe an extra year in the celllar will balance it out. 17/20

Wild barnyard animal-like nose with hints of grilled meat, freshly shot game, clove, juniper, matchstick, tomatoleaf, bayleaf and charcoal. Very elegant and absolutely old-school Syrah. Very earthy, long and balanced. The palate is supported by the everpresent acidity. The finish shows green olive, blood and schoolpaint. Very traditional-styled and I like that. 17.5/20

Middle deep, some browning in the edge. Opening up with blueberries and blackberries, but also rosehip and pomegranate. The presence of neatly toasted oak is well tuned and balanced. Clearly recognisable as a Syrah, in the classic style of a cooler climate. Wonderful, rich and long this wine has magnificent focus and fine, fresh and lively acidity. A pinch of heat on the finish, though. Lovely stuff. Rhone? 18/20
