In my opinion, one of the wines of the night. Concentrated and complex notes of lemon, tropical, exotic floral and confection-cotton candy, along with plenty of minerality. Full and long finish. Perfectly balanced. Outstanding wine.

A truly fine Gruner. White peach, refined vegetal, some fine spices and exotic floral notes. Long complex finish.

Showing some richness.

As with most of the pinots of the night, suffering from too much oak influence and not enough delicacy and grace.

Red currant and red fruit, and plenty of it, little vegetal and some earth. Juicy and fresh.

Some interesting aromas but overshadowed by the heavy hand of oak influence. No subtlety to enjoy, as suffered by many of the Austrian pinots tonight.

Plenty of white peach, confection and marshmallow, light vegetal. Delicate and intriguing.

A more creamy expression of Gruner. Lemon cream, some tinned vegetal and spice, slightly bitter but pleasant finish. Enjoyable and interesting.

Lemon cream, plenty of stony minerality, subtle and complex. Racy and showing good concentration. Excellent.

White peach, frozen pea, some light confection and plenty of white pepper on the finish. Also a light smokiness. Subtle and whimsical.

This wine is scary good and oh so complex. Full complex aroma and finish of white peach, light white pepper, some floral and plenty of acidity, minerality and piquancy. Killer wine. Running for wine of the night.

My first experience with Roter Veltliner so I will take a second to write some notes here. Lemon-lime aromas with some light mango and a little honeydew in the background. That hint of tropical makes this wine very interesting. Medium body with a crisp and lengthy finish.

Very young and tight here, so compact that it is almost impossible to judge and therefore I will not give a rating. The winemaker said that this just came out of the barrel six weeks ago. One can tell, because the hand of oak is the only touch that can be felt from this wine at this moment. Maybe this will change, but given the state of Austrian reserve pinot, I doubt it.

Nice complex nose of green apple, frozen pea, vegetal and bright pepper, that carries onto the finish. Decent concentration but excellent complexity.

More soft and creamy than the Leth Roter. Less intense and profound than the latter.

Crisp, salivating and with plenty of minerality. Tinned vegetal and stone fruits.

Beautiful wine. Aromas of white peach. Full and structured with some good body and concentration.

Floral, peach notes, some orange peel aromas.

Plenty of fruity red currant and red and black cherry fruit, and lots of fresh ground black pepper. Finish has some peppery length.

In the running for Gruner (and wine) of the event. Subtle and incredibly complex notes, with an exotic lychee tropical current running through. Full, balanced, racy and rich finish that lasts for an incredibly long time. Tour de force!

Long finish. Subtle and complex. Mid to deep floral note.

Cream, bright peach, some green bean. Complex and long.

Beautiful floral, some peach and orange blossom.

Intricate and complex aromas, frozen peas and white stone fruits. Good complexity.

Beautiful floral, complex and rich bouquet. Nose and palate still tight at this stage.

Supple red fruits, red currant.

Fleshy, black pepper dominant notes, some vegetal.

Subtle, integrated french oak notes. Pretty bouquet. Pleasing.

Mandarin orange, floral. Salivating acidity but perhaps a little thin.

Interesting salty brine note, along with the blood red fruit and lamb gaminess. Pair with lamb.

White floral, white peach. Medium bodied.

Probably the best pinot of the night, which is not saying much. Balanced, nuanced and carrying a rich but elegant palate.
