Pale gold. Beautiful brioche notes on the nose, with a tinge of slightly oxidized green apple. Lovely and entrancing. On the palate, this is crisp and fresh but inflected with some hazelnut notes. Beautifully balanced, this was a wonderful showing.

Ex-cellar Trotanoy. Only light signs of bricking. Incredibly complex nose, with notes of pencil shavings, menthol, cough syrup, leather -- this is extremely secondary and full of depth. This is the vinous equivalent of plush velvet. Layer upon layer of secondary flavours, with a strong leather note showing. The hint of sweetness seems to reveal that this was very fruity in its earlier life. Textbook aged Bordeaux. As Christian Moueix put it introducing the wines, "delicieux".

Inky purple. A surprisingly muted nose, with some cough syrup aromas. Reminds one almost of the spirit part of a vintage port, but beneath it all there is a faint hint of tart red cherries. On the palate, you can tell this is quite ripe, but there is a staggering amount of acidity to balance things out. Certainly a bit heavy for my palate, but this is surprisingly gentle. The dissipating tannins are also a bit of a surprise -- I'd have expected this to be much chewier. In any case, an un-Parkerized northern Rhone in a very Parkerized vintage.

From magnum. An austere but textbook LLC nose. Dark red fruit and a hint of barnyard. Not particularly rich or deep, this is an excellent drinking LLC, where everything is in good balance. A bit lighter in terms of concentration, but a lovely vein of acidity to complement the sweet dark fruit. Vanishing tannins.

Golden. Nose of golden raisins, dried apricots, and green apples, and definitely showing a bit of age. Almost a tinge of botrytis. The first impression on the palate is a Meursault of intense acidity with a very correct texture. A hint of creme brulee and tart stone fruit on the palate. Lengthy finish.
