Red
2002 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

(tasted blind) Very high quality oak, quite restrained red fruit, appealing nose with a savory meaty quality. Nose became more brown spiced with time and then more green. Palate lets down after a pretty nose; very astringent, seems a touch stemmy/or green and is a bit bitter. Drink or hold, though won't improve further at this point.
Red
2002 Chateau Musar Lebanon, Bekaa Valley
flawed
Nose of canned tomatoes, a bit stewed, and touches of oxidation. Did not comsume.
Red
2005 Gemma Barolo Giblin Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
90 points
(tasted blind) Light in Color. Complex nose with brown sugar, black tea leaves, touch of rubber. Palate is light on fruit and thin with an expected wall of tannin. Finish is fairly long, but the profile overall is a bit like a south african red. Not something I would be eager to drink, but not bad.
Red
2005 Giovanni Manzone Barolo Castelletto Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
89 points
(tasted blind) dark and reticent on first pour with plenty of tar, confected note of candy or confectioners sugar. Somewhat closed at this point. Fruit is dark; blackberry, and a touch pruney. Nose shifted to raisins and became more giving with air. If you have any wait and pray.
Red
2008 Jonata Winery Todos USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley

Nose has lots of licorice, capers, blackberry, insence which became more prominent with air. The Syrah is certainly driving this wine. Lush and ripe, but not overripe, quite polished. Palate has acidity keeping it fresh though the acid tastes a bit fake. I like this wine, though I don't know if the value proposition is there @ $60. For $40 I would grab a few more.
Red
2009 Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Le Domaine France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon
90 points
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner, but you better like stank. Barnyard, farmy, counterbalanced by ripe fruit, with a touch of greenness. palate has lots of acidity and a touch of bitter greenness. Very enjoyable, especially if you like it traditional.
