Ripe blackberry nose, floral, meaty. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Nice freshness, mix of black and red raspberry fruit, violets, low to moderate tannin. Not a bruiser, really nice.

2010 Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Perfumed, dark fruited nose with ripe blackberry. Black fruited palate with dried herbs and heat. Hollow on the midpalate compared to the rest of the lineup and a short finish.

2010 Domaine du Grand Tinel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Alexis Establet France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Pretty ripe raspberry nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Bright red raspberry fruit, a bit prickly with acidity at first, some garrigue and light tannin. Didn't think this was a step up from the base cuvee, just different.
Red
2010 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Whoa, aromas of black fruit and garrigue leap from the glass. The power carries over to the palate. This is full bodied but not overbearing, dense but supported by medium acidity. Layers of ripe blueberry and blackberry fruit and moderate fruit skin tannin. Clearly has the material to improve but is approachable now. Lovely.
