This may have suffered from poor storage. It didn't show as good as it should have. Some oxidized notes. Premoxed? Maybe. WineBid did not deliver this time.

Flight 2 - Main Course (3 notes)

3 vintages of Chateau d'Issan with Argentine Grilled meats
Vacio, Morcillas & asado de tira.

Dark plum with very little bricking around the rim. Not very open at first but starts to develop in the glass. Some savory herbs, thyme, some spices, cinnamon, cardamon with a mineral undertone. Dry on the palate, tannins are almost totally integrated, acid is medium, alcohol is medium-minus, Finish is medium plus. Quite enjoyable but my least favorite of the evening.

Cork was sealed by some seeped wine which scared us a bit. But surprised us as we tasted. It must have created a really good seal between the top of the cork and the bottle.
Brick red with a wide watery rim. You can tell this has some age on it. Very mineral nose. Rusty iron, metal. Mushroom, truffle-like notes. Slight evidence of oak. On the palate it is dry but still very fruitful for a wine this age. Medium acidity, medium minus alcohol, low tannins. Finish is quite long and complex. Definitely my WOTN. This is something to sit and think about. Great effort.

Garnet red in color with a very slight rim. Clear. No sediment or cloudiness in the glass. Wine was decanted about an hour before. Nose is potent. Black fruits, blackberry, cassis, some graphite, pencil lead, some cigar box, tobacco, leather, some grounded espresso. On the palate it is dry and quite alive, acidity is medium plus, alcohol is medium minus, tannins are medium plus and still a bit dusty. Finish is long and pleasant. Wow. This is quite an effort. Great bottle.
