Flight 1 (3 notes)

White - Sparkling
2004 Moët & Chandon Champagne Grand Vintage France, Champagne
92 points
Recognisable Grand Vintage house style, lovely Meunier richness, close to the 2002 but fresher obviously, silky-smooth, stylish.
Red
2006 Les Clos Perdus Corbières Mire La Mer France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Corbières
92 points
Mourvedre with Grenache and some Carignan, 14% ABV. Deep and impressive nose, open and expressive, black fruit, rosemary and thyme, minerals, flowers (lilies and violets), very clean and precise, barely noticeable oak provides warmth, hint of leather; soft and silky attack, real old-vine creaminess, wonderful freshness and balance, seamless but with perfect tannic grip, elegant; very good length, precise finish. Its age does it justice.
Red
2011 Rui Reguinga Tejo Tributo Portugal, Ribatejo, Tejo
88 points
A blend of 85% Syrah, 10% Grenache and 5% Viognier. Very young but it suits the wine, slightly lactic nose, fresh, lovely depth, primary peppery and sweet black fruit from the Syrah, softened and lifted by the Viognier, spice; rich palate, flavoursome, creamy, soft, low tannin, easy but with a mineral undertow and the right tannic grip; good length. Lacks the complexity for a higher score but very attractive.
