Introduction

Best private venue in town and another great event. Most of the wines showed well and the Donnhoff and Vilmart stole the show.

Flight 1 (8 notes)

White - Off-dry
2008 François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Les Tuffeaux France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Montlouis-sur-Loire
91 points
Very good (light gold color) with floral, orange peel, white peach and golden apples. A touch of honey on the palate. Drink now or hold a few years.
White - Sparkling
2008 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier d'Or France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
94 points
Outstanding. Tiny bubbles. Super elegant offering with grapefruit, sour apples, citrus, baking spices and crust. Long finish and acidic. A perfect food Champagne. Drink or hold this beauties. Should go another decade plus. Top ten of the year candidate.
White
2008 Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fumé de Pouilly France, Loire Valley, Upper Loire, Pouilly-Fumé
92 points
Grapefruit, chalk, floral and spices. Much better on the first go around as it lost some of its complexity on round two. Drink now and enjoy.
White
2010 Domaine Louis Michel Chablis 1er Cru Séchets France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
90 points
Not as impressed as others with this wine. It lack complexity and paled in comparison to the Fevre. Mineral, too much spice and grapefruit. A bitter finish. Hold and hope it improves.
White
2008 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis Grand Cru Bougros France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
94 points
Another great showing for Fevre with a really vibrant nose featuring minerals, carmel, orange pee and lemon oil. Palate is balanced and long finish. This should age a few years but can be enjoyed today. Both pours very consistent.
White
2010 Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains USA, California, Santa Cruz Mountains
92 points
Needs some time in the cellar and should improve. Lemon, mineral, oak and spices. Medium plus finish. A little off balance and hopefully the oak will subside. Hold till 2017.

White - Off-dry
2009 Dönnhoff Niederhäuser Hermannshöhle Riesling Spätlese Germany, Nahe
It is really not fair to put German Rieslings in these tastings as often times they will be wine of the night and really showed outstanding tonight. As one of the cheapest wines represents the best QPR. Floral, apricots, peach galore, and a touch of subtle spice. Long and rich finish. Drink now till 2029.

White - Sweet/Dessert
1990 Château Guiraud France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
87 points
Not a lot left here and a disappointment. Carmel, sugar and floral notes. Very little fruit left and should have been consumed a decade ago. Interesting as I had this wine a year ago and was not impressed with it and now even far less. This is the value of Cellar Tracker and based on the previous note not sure why this was at the tasting.
