Lovely easy mouth-feel. Classic Tuscan Sangiovese taste. Very good quality. Can drink now, and enjoy over the next 5 years too.
Sangiovese with a bit of Caniaolo and Colorino.
Red
2001 Dry River Pinot Noir New Zealand, North Island, Wairarapa, Martinborough

Pop and poured. Tasted blind. Cork closure bottle.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, coming on with an explosion of a floral bouquet. Red flowers ?Ixora, with other aromas of smoky toasted oak, sweet raisins, ripe strawberries, dark cherries. Developed.
On the palate, dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium- tannins, medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of toasted oak, ripe strawberry, cranberry, sweet raisins, dark cherries. Medium finish.
Outstanding quality aged NZ Pinot Noir. Oak would probably have been rather overpowering when young, but has now nicely integrated. I really liked the floral bouquet. In a good place right now, but I fear probably will last another 3 years only. The acidity and fruit intensity may not hold out.

White - Sweet/Dessert
2011 De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Sémillon Australia, New South Wales, Big Rivers, Riverina
90 points
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, gold colour. Long legs.
Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of petroleum, kerosene, toasted oak, marmalade. Developing.
On the palate, luscious sweetness, medium+ acidity, medium alcohol, full body. Pronounced flavor intensity, with flavours of marmalade, ripe apricots, petroleum. Botrytis character. Long finish.
Good quality. Acidity could be better. Petroleum a bit too much. The 2009 vintage I tried before was better.
