Flight 1 (5 notes)

White
2011 Weingut von Othegraven Riesling MAX trocken Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Medium yellow. Complicated nose of distilled beverage and herb more than fruit. Some citrus elements but a real herbal infusion like an acquavit. Dry, moderate acidity, very complex. I could easily have mistaken this for an Austrian Riesling.
White
2010 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Yellow. Briny, citrus aromas. Terrific texture and beautiful balance between ripe citrus fruit and underlying tension and structure. This has proven to be an exceptional value Premier Cru wine over the years I've tried it.
Red
2012 Domaine Comte Abbatucci Faustine Vieilles Vignes France, Corsica, Vin de France
Light red. Brambly herbal aromatics. Light weight, supple, delightful, well balanced mix of light red fruit and herbal undergrowth.

Red
2009 Louis Jadot Moulin-à-Vent Clos de Rochegrès Château des Jacques France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Moulin-à-Vent
Deep ruby, pretty striking for Gamay. Anise and black fruit. Medium weight, pretty chocolatey feel, dense dark red fruit. Acidity could be sharper and some wood is very much in evidence throughout.
Red
2011 Foradori Italy, Trentino Alto-Adige / Veneto, Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT
Very deep purple/ruby. Smooth and round. Beautiful black fruit intertwined with graphite and herbs. Today we had a chance to appreciate a full bottle and particularly appreciated how fine a food wine this is.
