2013 Bodegas Campillo Rioja Blanco Fermentado en Barrica
Another very enjoyable and admirable bottle. That I can drink this for as little as $12 adds to the pleasure.

1962 Château Coufran
Our tasting of this wine was remarkably consistent with the 3 existing CT notes. Drying and recessed cork came out easily in one piece. This and its astounding virility and vibrancy, made me wonder if it had been reconditioned. Modest but fresh and smokey fruit tail off but a very tasty if not overly complex old wine. Reminded me of the '89 Raffault Chinon Picasses so I was surprised to learn that this is mostly Merlot with no Cab Franc. Thanks Gary.

2005 La Rioja Alta Rioja Viña Arana Reserva
First time trying the Arana and it was not a favorable encounter. I was expecting a wine more classical than the Ardanza. What I got was vanilla extract cloaked in powerful oak. Perhaps this needs much time to integrate.

2013 Broadside Cabernet Sauvignon
I like the tense purity of the fruit and it's surprising balance. I equally dislike the brambly, overblown favors. Curious, interesting but not enough drinking enjoyment.
