Touch of oak. Smoky. Waxy fruit. Very tropical. Perfectly fine wine.

This is really drinkable and enjoyable. Darker gold color. Tropical fruits. Brown sugar. Lemon pie filling and baking spice. The sugar balances this out and really "covers up" any lean spots. The sweetness is a bit surprising but its really easy to drink.

Rather powerful green pepper nose. Palate thins out but there is some bright fruit and drying tannin.

This had been opened for 4+ hours when I first tried it. Color still dark. However, there was not too much going on. Carmelization setting in. Hints of boysenberry but fruit has largely gone away. On the tired side.

This bottle had been opened for a few days when I tried it. However, it still exhibits a very young profile. Concentrated sappy and dark. Cayenne pepper. Loads of black fruit. Drying tannins. Pretty straight ahead Petite Sirah with a long life ahead of it. Very enjoyable.

Unlike some other vintages of this wine, the alcohol is not overwhelming. It's actually pretty balanced all things considered. Nose features green mint leaves as if you were chewing on them. Touch of green with mint. Herbs. This is juicy with the drying tannins hitting at the back end of the palate. All in all, an interesting wine that is nice to drink. Not a standard Petite Sirah by the port-like character is there and this wine may be develop nicely with another 10+ years of age.

My first bottle of the case and a half we've accumulated over the years. The nose is amazing here. Plum, cassis, mint, thyme, cedar, loads of pepper, clove, spice, anise, citrus zest. It just keeps coming at you the more you swirl the glass. It will be fascinating to see how the nose develops over the years. The palate is so incredibly primary still 20 years after bottling. Dominated by chocolate cover cherry and well balanced sweetness. Nice blue fruit. This easily has 30-50 years ahead of it. 94 is a classic year in Port and this is one of my first tastes from this vintage. Just a remarkable wine. Hopefully they all bring this kind of complexity.
