Flight 1 (1 note)

White
2010 Château Cos d'Estournel Blanc France, Bordeaux
Pale/medium straw. Quite grassy, green fruit, touch of melon. Medium/full bodied, nice weight, vibrant contrasting acidity, good length finish but a touch one dimensional. **1/2

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1983 Château Haut-Marbuzet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
flawed
Corked
Red
1985 Château Haut-Marbuzet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Deep garnet core, wide mahogany rim. Rich, spicy nose, touch of christmas cake, vestiges of red fruit. Medium bodied, harmonious, soft tannins, touch of cedar, decent length finish. Delicious, fully mature. ****

Flight 3 (3 notes)

Red
1995 Château Lafon-Rochet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Medium/deep garnet/ruby core, narrow pale rim. Deep, dark fruit, soil. Medium/full bodied, black fruit, quite firm tannins somewhat dominate the finish but still pretty decent. ***
Red
1996 Château Lafon-Rochet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Deep garnet core. Lovely lightly gravelly mineral nose, cool blackcurrant fruit. Medium bodied, firm but very fine tannins, attractive savoury dark fruits, mineral notes, very good length finish. Excellent and drinking quite well ****

Red
1998 Château Lafon-Rochet France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Deep ruby/garnet. Cool and minerally nose, cedar. Medium bodied, dark, cedar fruit, tannins a touch brusque on the good length finish. Very good though ***1/2.

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
1970 Château Calon-Ségur France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Medium garnet/mahogany core, wide pale mahogany rim. Nose very earthy, dusty, touch of "wet dog". Medium bodied, quite dry and lean, totally fruitless, drinkable but touch tired and uninteresting. *
Red
2001 Château Calon-Ségur France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Deep ruby, narrow pale rim. Lactic notes dominate the nose, some underlying, creamy red and black berry fruit. Slightly better on the palate, medium/full bodied, more black fruited, still some milky notes, some unresolved tannin. N0t sure about this. **?

Flight 5 (2 notes)

Red
1970 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
flawed
Sharp, bovrilly nose. Soy, spice. Something not quite right here NR
Red
1981 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Another dusty, earthy, slightly dirty nose but for me not corked. Indeed the palate is somewhat better, showing some lean dark fruit and a touch of gravelly minerality on the slightly sandy finish. OK **1/2

Flight 6 (2 notes)

Red
1985 Château Cos d'Estournel France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Slightly dusty/earthy even green nose, but also some attractive cedary red fruit. Medium bodied, harmonious, soft tannins, attractive cedary red fruit, balanced acidity, perhaps falls away a tad on the finish but very good. ***

Red
1989 Château Cos d'Estournel France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
Deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Attractive, sweet red-fruited nose, red fruit, Christmas Cake, spice. Medium/full bodied, rich fruit, soft tannins, balanced though without obvious acidity, harmonious, long. Lovely ****1/2.
