60% whole cluster. Perfumed and fresh with bright berries, raspberry, flowers, spice. Light and alive. The palate shows bright fruit, some sweetness, but also a bitterness at this point. Very clear. Some tar, smoke. Finish is bitter, blue fruits, chocolate. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 14.5/20.

Great perfume: crunchy fruit with raspberry, blueberry, violets, spice. Darker then the Dolcetto. Really heady stuff. Palate has better balance than the Dolcetto. Tannins darker, and the flavors are much darker than the nose: fine tannins, high acid, good focus. The finish shoos tight fruit and structure. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5-5+/6, Finish - 4.5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15-16+/20. (with 16-16.5/20 potential).

(Done in the style of the Barbera Superiore - not officially: selection of old vine parcels from best sites - multiple vineyards). Striking how dark the color is compared to the other wines - inky in appearance. The nose is darker as well: blueberry, blackberry, violets but also a beautiful savory game and mocha note. Deep and dark on the palate. Again lots of acid and structure with fine tannins. Clear with more savory aspects. This could be excellent, it's already quite good. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5-5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.

Not much nose - gentle, flowers tar. Very bitter on the palate with high acid. A little screechy. Tar. Not my thing. Nose - 4/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 13/20.

Wow! The nose on this is crazy: wild strawberries, and raspberry with savory and saline olives, (either olives covered in strawberry compote or wild strawberries slathered in olive tapenade) herbs (Garrigue), cinnamon, red spices - like an alpine herbal liquor. Pure on the palate with strawberries, olive and minerals. Good acid. Finish is red and herby with fine tannins. This is more showy than my last encounter with it in November 2016. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5+/6, Finish - 5+/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17+/20. (with 17.5-18/20 potential).
