Barrel tasting. Apple, hazelnut and marzipan. Very fat and concentrated. Good potential based on flavor profile, but tough to tell how this will emerge in terms of ripeness vs elegance.

Barrel tasting. Similar rich flavors to Narvaux, with apple, roasted nuts and nut butter. Slightly fatter, even if not necessarily more concentrated. Tough to assess its potential.

Barrel tasting. Apple and Meyer lemon aromas and flavors with very good concentration and balance. Vineyards at higher elevation seemed most successful in 2016, based on today's very limited 2 producer visit. 91-92 point potential.

Barrel tasting. 80 yo vines, so no surprise this is showing impressive concentration. Riper and richer vs Garenne, this has greater potential if the fruit ripeness doesn't dominate, but tougher to be confident at this early stage.

Barrel tasting. Another 2016 white I find tough to assess given lots of good concentration along with lots of ripe stone fruit. Not quite balanced yet.

Barrel tasting. Also big and ripe,coming across slightly fat to start, more texturally interesting to finish. Another 2016 white I find tough to assess given contrasting characters coming through.

Barrel tasting. Apple and lemon with rocky mineral textures. Long and persistent finish. One of my favorites of the day, another example of vineyards higher upslope overperforming. 91-92 point potential.

Barrel tasting. Just finishing ML. Buttery and milky with very good concentration and length. This has very exciting potential, but judgment obviously still pending.

Tasting at Jadot. Floral start with ripe aromas and flavors to start, surprisingly lush for the vineyard, but that's 2015. Minerality comes through clearly on finish. Probably better young vs typical vintages.

Tasting at Jadot. This is the Héritiers cuvee from En la Richard. Slightly floral start with powerful citrus and peach aromas. Similar cross-section of lots of powerful fruit throughout, ripe upfront, then dense and minerally middle-to-finish. Very good 91-93 point potential.

Barrel tasting. Black fruit, very meaty. Somewhat foursquare in the manner of young, firm Beaune, this will need time in the cellar. Good for its level.

Barrel tasting. Also black and firm fruit, slightly more powerful and ripe with Pommard clay character coming through on finish. Clearly brooding a bit, but I like the long finish and think there is very good 90+ point potential here.

Barrel tasting. Red fruit throughout with savory spice I like a lot. Very good concentration, far better balance vs the more rugged Bressandes or Boucherottes. Very long finish, very cellarworthy. 92-93 point potential.

Barrel tasting. All red cherry on nose and palate with a subtle floral start. Nicely forward, approachable and elegant. Certainly simpler vs the Ursules just tasted, perhaps even the other cuvees from Beaune. Good potential.

Barrel tasting. Red fruit start-to-finish with big fruit, big tannins and an overall burly, rugged character. I am not too familiar with this cuvee, but it is certainly consistent with the mouthfeel I expect from good Pommard.

Barrel tasting. Dark black cherry and plum aromas and flavors. Backward and brooding with a meaty character. Needs lots of time.

Barrel tasting. Lots of red cherry and berry aromas and flavors. A rich, elegant start and mineral-driven finish. Good length and depth. 92-93 point potential.

Barrel tasting. Sweet black fruit is surprisingly forward for this vineyard with good balance already. Moderate concentration and length. Good+ for its level.

Barrel tasting. Red cherry and spice with bright character and nicely elegant textures. Moderate weight and very good balance. 90-91 point potential.

Barrel tasting. Black cherry and berry, very meaty and dense. Concentrated from start-to-finish with a long finish, slightly backward and firm, but easily the best potential of the fraction of the Jadot 2016 lineup tasted today. 92-94 point potential.

Tasted at Jadot. Broad array of red fruit on both nose and palate with savory spice. Some new oak to start, but that will easily integrate. This is a real textural charmer, with great minerality and soft tannins supporting the wine's excellent density. Power with finesse, this will need a decade+ in the cellar. 92-93 point potential.

Tasted at Jadot. Black cherry and braised meat with good weight and balance. Very good length shows some spice nuances already. 91-94 point potential.

Barrel tasting. Lemon custard and lemon peel. Moderate power and length. Very good balance.
