Flight 1 (4 notes)

Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Imperial Rosé France, Champagne
83 points
Fairly standard Rosé Champagne. Light dosage, powerful mousse (coarse bubbles), high acid, medium finish. Some autolysis on the nose, and some impressions of indistinct red berries.
Red
2010 Château Chasse-Spleen France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Moulis en Médoc
88 points
Excellent. Some blackcurrant and stewed bell pepper from Cab, and some plush chocolate-covered plum on the midpalate from Merlot. Medium body, medium alcohol, medium plus acid, medium tannins - silky. Showing slight development but still very primary.
Red
2013 Yalumba The Signature Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
87 points
Ripe dark fruit - blackberry, blackcurrant. Hints of eucalyptus.
Dry, full-bodied, high alcohol (feels 14.5%), medium plus acid, medium tannins (soft and rounded). A good example of a new-world full-bodied red.
Red
2013 Kerr Farm Vineyard Pinotage Jaison Reserve New Zealand, North Island, Auckland, Kumeu
84 points
Unusual nose - different than what I recall. Burnt banana, rust, burnt ham. Slightly green, but not notably pyrazinic - more of a generic weedy herbaceousness.
Ripe on the palate, with elevated alcohol, good acid and tannins.
