Flight 1 (11 notes)

White
2016 Henschke Riesling Julius Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
88 points
Orange blossom, pear, apple, some spice. Fairly ripe in style with plenty of fruit and a rich streak throughout. Medium length and depth. Should develop well with 7-8 years age.
White
2017 Henschke Riesling Julius Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
90 points
Pear, white florals, spice and mandarin. More length and cut to this versus the 2016, while still having that richer profile. Good texture and balance. Could be more of a 15 year prospect.
White
2016 Henschke Gewürztraminer Joseph Hill Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
87 points
Lychee, lemon and vanilla on the nose. Quite intense palate but the depth of the fruit is a little shallow. Finishes reasonably clean, with medium length.
White
2014 Henschke Sémillon "Louis" Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
90 points
Toasty nose with violets, pear and some light herbal notes that work pretty well. Rounded on the palate, has good length and enough texture to keep it interesting. Will cellar well in the mid-term, as long as that toasty note doesn't take over entirely.
White
2015 Henschke Pinot Gris Littlehampton Innes Vineyard Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Adelaide Hills
88 points
Melon, pineapple and lime. Palate is pleasant, with some fruit that finds good balance with the moderate acidity, while also having some texture to give it some extra interest over the fairly standard nose.
Red
2015 Henschke Pinot Noir Giles Lenswood Australia, South Australia, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lenswood
89 points
Roses and stalks, musk and cranberry. Light fruit weight but there is some layered depth as well. Nice length and a good light grip. Well put together wine that will likely develop some more interest over the coming years.
Red
2013 Henschke Keyneton Euphonium Australia, South Australia, Barossa
86 points
Mint, chocolate, blackcurrant and toast. Palate has plenty of sharp edges to it, with light red tinged fruit and high acidity. Medium length. Hasn't found balance just yet.
Red
2012 Henschke Cyril Henschke Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
90 points
Decanted 2 hours. 78% Cabernet sauvignon, 15% Cabernet franc, 7% Merlot. Eucalyptus, earth, plum and cherries on the nose. Good rich fruit profile on the palate, while retaining good detail throughout. Holds up with good structure as well. Well composed wine.
Red
2010 Henschke Shiraz Hill of Roses Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
93 points
Blackberry, chocolate, cedar, violets and mocha with a touch of herb as well. Fine tannins, this wine marks a step up in structure across the range, while having excellent depth to the fruit. Acidity pulses through the wine nicely. Really good length. Impressive.
Red
2014 Henschke Shiraz Mount Edelstone Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Eden Valley
93 points
Menthol, pepper, light overlay of herbs, plum, blackcurrant and oak weaved throughout. Bright flavours on the palate, with plenty of lift and freshness. Delicate fruit style even with the pretty flavours coming through. Excellent length and depth. This feels really complete as a wine, with a little bit of everything mixed together really well.

Raspberry, blackberry, toasty and spicy oak, licorice and dark floral notes. Bold flavours, with the fruit covering the oak well. Does find good balance, and the length is stretched out nicely. Certainly far too early to get a final read on this, but it should be great if it has time to find its feet and develop more points of interest.
