Flight 1 - Aperitif (1 note)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Louis Casters Champagne Brut Cuvée Supérieure France, Champagne
91 points
Tasted blind. Smooth, silky, spicy, seamless, ripe fruit, warmth, well matured, subtle for Pinot Meunier. General consensus was that this was a vintage champagne from 2006 of 2007. High praise indeed!

Flight 2 - Chambolle-Musigny (13 notes)

Red
2015 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
92 points
Tasted blind. Relatively youthful red, little or no browning, light colour; toasty oak and vanilla on the nose, spicy, floral, modern style, confit red fruit, clearly 100% destemmed, nice typicity; silky and rounded palate, sweet fruit and a lot of oak, youthful, attractive and open, structured; very resonance and length, but again with a lot of oak. Needs more time.
Red
2012 La Pousse d'Or Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
91 points
Tasted blind. Similar appearance to the previous wine; sweet red and blue fruit, toasty oak but less so than the previous wine, very good floral lift and depth; medium weight and lovely balance, light but astringent tannins, slightly rustic; salty finish, decent length. Looks good, needs 2-4 years.
Red
2010 Domaine Charles Thomas Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Beaux Bruns France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
90 points
Tasted blind. Light colour, mature but lively appearance; light and lifted nose, fresh but mature, rosehip, warmth from the oak; light and flowing palate but with slightly grippy tannins, just enough sève and charm; airy finish, good length. On the thin side.
Red
2008 Domaine G. Roumier / Christophe Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
91 points
Tasted blind. Mature but lively appearance, sombre colour; spicy nose, slightly earthy, touch of stems, good depth; a bit rustic on the palate, good fruit, light but firm, slightly drying tannins; fully mature finish, dried fruit and cold tea, good length.
Red
2006 Pascal Lachaux Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
90 points
Tasted blind. Mature but lively appearance; mature and earthy aromas, spicy and stemmy nose; firm and drying palate, tannic but with a certain charm; good length. Solid but pedestrian and completely lacking the finesse and fragrance of the terroir.
Red
2005 Domaine Dujac Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
94 points
Tasted blind. Relatively full colour, youthful, good depth; impressive and concentrated nose, blue fruit, perfectly integrated spicy oak, flowers; complete and powerful palate, tannic and youthful but silky and charming, ripe fruit, flowing and refined; lifted and long finish.
Red
2004 Domaine Bertheau (Pierre et François) Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
90 points
Tasted blind. Completely mature appearance, little red left; mature nose, rosehip, stems, nuts and undergrowth, slightly varnishy; mature palate, drying tannins but with vestiges of power and posture; coffee and red berry finish.
Red
2003 Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Musigny France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
95 points
Tasted blind. Relatively youthful appearance, starting to brown at the edges; compact and spicy nose, still quite closed, stems, opens up beautifully; good weight of sweet fruit on the palate, shows great posture, well-balanced, excellent oak integration, warm but elegant and fresh; complete finish, very good length. Needs more time, but there is real beauty here.
Red
1999 Leymarie Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Aux Echanges France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
92 points
Tasted blind. Mature but lively appearance; stemmy, smoky nose, redcurrants, mature, cold tea, undergrowth, spices, very good depth; energetic and fresh palate, powerful and slightly rustic, firm and tannic, ripe black cherries; tough finish, long.
Red
1999 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru La Combe d'Orveau Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Tasted blind. Relatively youthful appearance, starting to brown at the edges; deep and powerful nose, more vinous and spicy than defined; quite old-fashioned on the palate, there is an unevenness here, slightly disjointed, black fruit, concentrated but tough; long finish. Not rated.
Red
1998 Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru
92 points
Tasted blind. Mature appearance, red core, sombre colour; deep and spicy and stemmy nose, warm; full-bodied and tannic palate, firm and powerful, not a lot of stuffing, but not without a certain elegance; mature finish, good length.

Tasted blind. Incredibly youthful and fresh, seemingly ageless, not a single sign of evolution, fresh but relaxed, slightly vegetal, long finish. Extra point for age. From JD's stone-cold cellar (10ºC all year round). It does seem to make a difference...
