Flight 1 (35 notes)
White - Sparkling
N.V. Krug Champagne Brut Grande Cuvée Edition 163eme
90 points
Rich apple throughout, slightly bready. Good+ weight, very good balance. Very good now.
White
1996 Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet
90 points
Rich peach and apple with baked apple and apple pie spice. Very good length and concentration. Some thought this oxidized, but I thought this had an age appropriate level of oxidation, maybe slightly more mature than that. So I certainly wouldn't cellar this longer.
White
1999 Domaine Leflaive Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet
flawed
From magnum. Very reduced, and (to add insult to injury) slightly corked.
Red
2014 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos St. Jacques Vieille Vigne
Small glass, brief note. Black cherry and roasted meat with black pepper and savory spice. Very rich and fleshy, very long finish. Ever so young, 92-94 point potential.
White
2000 Domaine Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet
94 points
From my cellar. Orchard fruit, wintergreen, lemon curd and earth aromas. Similar flavors balance concentrated fruit and slowly emerging aged. Wonderfully unctuous. Drinking great now, probably no/ little upside from here.
White
2008 Domaine Ramonet Chevalier-Montrachet
94 points
Small glass, brief note. Great to taste this immediately after the 2000 vintage. Bright apple and quince with mint and fresh herbs. Very good concentration with vibrant energy. Slightly linear right now, better 2020 forward, probably better yet with even more cellar time.
White
2013 Henri Boillot Chevalier-Montrachet
92 points
From magnum. Small glass, brief note. Great nose, floral and rich. Fleshy palate with lots of concentration. Slightly disjointed right now, needs a few years to achieve better harmony.
White
1996 Coche-Dury Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères
93 points
Small glass, brief note. Poached pear with rich spice aromas and flavors. Exceptional density. Good+ length, still nicely vibrant and fresh.
White
2003 Coche-Dury Puligny-Montrachet Les Enseignères
92 points
Small glass, brief note. Very ripe stone and orchard fruit comes across very fleshy to start, then leaner and brighter middle through finish. Very good length. Served blind, I thought Coche Meursault 1999.
White
2002 Domaine d'Auvenay (Lalou Bize-Leroy) Puligny-Montrachet en la Richarde
95 points
Small glass, brief note. Powerful and broad array of white fruit with subtle spice. Dense and super concentrated. Very, very long. Seemed so fresh for its age. Mineral and acid based textures hinted at on the finish. Upside from here, rare for 2002 white Burg.
Red
1952 Remoissenet Père et Fils Grands-Echezeaux
Small glass, brief note. Fully mature red fruit with lots more earth. More interesting vs very exciting, but certainly fun to try.
White
1989 Faiveley Corton-Charlemagne
Small glass, brief note. Still nicely fresh, surprisingly lean for the vintage. Good length and weight. Very enjoyable.
White
1996 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Montrachet
96 points
Small glass, brief note. Ultra ripe and extremely rich with so much concentration and so much pleasure. Enough structure to make certain there is near perfect balance as well, with the bones to age and improve.
White
2004 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Montrachet
95 points
Small glass, brief note. Initially reductive, and certainly very closed to start. Lots of lemon, lemon peel and lime with ginger hints. Very long and linear. Expanding finish. Better than last bottle 2 years ago.
Red
1964 Maison Leroy Grands-Echezeaux
95 points
Small glass, brief note. Asian spice with lots of red cherry. Big and bold and just so much fun.
Red
2012 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin
94 points
Small glass, brief note. Black and red black is so fun and balanced right now. Densely concentrated while elegant, even if slightly firm. Great now, better 2027 forward.
Red
2001 Domaine Georges Mugneret-Gibourg Ruchottes-Chambertin
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Lots of maturing red fruit with as much earth. Slightly dirty, which was a minor distraction, but good+ weight and length.
Red
1999 Joseph Drouhin Musigny
98 points
Absolutely beautiful red and black cherry with traces of berry, earth, black pepper and cloves. Very powerful start, this gets increasingly elegant and stylish through to a very long and texturally exciting finish. So great now, upside from here.

Red
2000 Christophe Roumier Ruchottes-Chambertin
91 points
Small glass, brief note. Ripe black cherry, more fun than elegant. Good+ weight and length. Still nicely fresh and well balanced.
Red
1999 Domaine Leroy Clos Vougeot
93 points
Small glass, brief note. Ripe red and black fruit aromas with enticing Leroy perfume and roasted meat. More red fruited flavors with sweeter spice. Very good length. Upside from here.
Red
1993 Hubert Lignier Clos de la Roche
95 points
Thankfully this was decanted since it was closed and mostly inaccessible to start. Air was kind here. Black cherries and berries with woodsy spice and layers of complex flavors. Incredibly tasty. Upside from here.
Red
2000 Domaine Dujac Clos St. Denis
95 points
From magnum. Electrifying aromas combine mostly fresh red berry cherry, perfume, sweet and savory spice and fresh herbs. Similar flavors with good+ weight, great length and finesse.
Red
1990 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant
96 points
Rich and ripe red fruit grabs you to start, followed by lots of spice. So rich that the complexity can get hidden or lost, but there is so much here.
Red
2000 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée St. Vivant
94 points
So much like the 1990 alongside, just less complex, even if more accessible and here-and-now. Exactly what you think RSV should be, in a very exact and precise fashion.
Red
1953 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant
97 points
In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Complex array of surprisingly complex black and red cherry aromas and flavors, with mature, dried and fresh fruit, great spice and cooked mushroom. Perfectly harmonious and great length. What a treat, thanks, Reed!
Red

In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Ripe fruit, still nicely fresh for its age with good power and length. Good/ moderate complexity.
Red
1990 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant

In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Very ripe and rich with very good concentration and sweet spice throughout. Very easy to enjoy, just slightly less complexity vs some others in the flight.
Red
1991 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant
91 points
In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. All black fruit with spice hints. Maturing nicely and gradually. Good+ weight and length.
Red
1993 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant
97 points
In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. More black vs red fruit with lots of spice and excellent depth and intensity. Rich fruit, spice, structure in perfect harmony, collaborating on a persistent and very long finish. Great now, this should drink beautifully for decades.
Red
1995 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant
88 points
In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Very rugged with good enough fruit. Tough to predict how/ where/ when this will evolve into an exciting Romanée St. Vivant. I'd hold in the cellar for at least another decade if I owned any.
Red
2001 Domaine Robert Arnoux / Arnoux-Lachaux Romanée St. Vivant
93 points
In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Lots of fresh red fruit with plenty of spice. Still a little oaky and firm, but very good now, with even greater potential.
