Rich apple throughout, slightly bready. Good+ weight, very good balance. Very good now.

Rich peach and apple with baked apple and apple pie spice. Very good length and concentration. Some thought this oxidized, but I thought this had an age appropriate level of oxidation, maybe slightly more mature than that. So I certainly wouldn't cellar this longer.

Very tired for its age, oxidizing.

Small glass, brief note. Black cherry and roasted meat with black pepper and savory spice. Very rich and fleshy, very long finish. Ever so young, 92-94 point potential.

From my cellar. Orchard fruit, wintergreen, lemon curd and earth aromas. Similar flavors balance concentrated fruit and slowly emerging aged. Wonderfully unctuous. Drinking great now, probably no/ little upside from here.

Small glass, brief note. Great to taste this immediately after the 2000 vintage. Bright apple and quince with mint and fresh herbs. Very good concentration with vibrant energy. Slightly linear right now, better 2020 forward, probably better yet with even more cellar time.

From magnum. Small glass, brief note. Great nose, floral and rich. Fleshy palate with lots of concentration. Slightly disjointed right now, needs a few years to achieve better harmony.

Small glass, brief note. Very ripe stone and orchard fruit comes across very fleshy to start, then leaner and brighter middle through finish. Very good length. Served blind, I thought Coche Meursault 1999.

Small glass, brief note. Powerful and broad array of white fruit with subtle spice. Dense and super concentrated. Very, very long. Seemed so fresh for its age. Mineral and acid based textures hinted at on the finish. Upside from here, rare for 2002 white Burg.

Absolutely beautiful red and black cherry with traces of berry, earth, black pepper and cloves. Very powerful start, this gets increasingly elegant and stylish through to a very long and texturally exciting finish. So great now, upside from here.

From magnum. Electrifying aromas combine mostly fresh red berry cherry, perfume, sweet and savory spice and fresh herbs. Similar flavors with good+ weight, great length and finesse.

Rich and ripe red fruit grabs you to start, followed by lots of spice. So rich that the complexity can get hidden or lost, but there is so much here.

So much like the 1990 alongside, just less complex, even if more accessible and here-and-now. Exactly what you think RSV should be, in a very exact and precise fashion.

In multi-flight 53/66/90/91/93/95/01 vertical. Very rugged with good enough fruit. Tough to predict how/ where/ when this will evolve into an exciting Romanée St. Vivant. I'd hold in the cellar for at least another decade if I owned any.
