Flight 1 (7 notes)

White
2007 Benoit Ente Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Folatières En la Richarde France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
92 points
Floral start with rich orchard fruit throughout. Everything very fresh, very powerful, yet all well balanced and elegant. Good+ weight, even better length. This should drink well for many more years.
White
2007 Paul Pernot et ses Fils Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
90 points
Peach and apple aromas and flavors with some honeycomb and toasted almond notes. Good weight and length, this is probably nearing the end of its peak drinking window as its freshness is starting to fade.
White
2014 Paul Pernot et ses Fils Bâtard-Montrachet France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Lots of orchard fruit throughout with lemon peel and floral flourishes. Good muscle and weight, this came across as more compact when popped-and-poured, then more open an hour later. 92 points today, 93+ point upside in another year or three.
Red
2017 Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs-Gain Rouge France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
87 points
Tasted double blind from 375 ml bottle. Clearly Pinot Noir, I thought it from Burgundy, given its leaner character. Others were less sure. Plenty of red cherry with good enough weight and length, overall simple while fun. I wasn’t a big fan of the C Morey reds I tasted in April, and this was better.
Red
2006 Domaine Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Ducs France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Lots of ripe black cherry aromas with enough floral and spice character to take you to Volnay. similar flavors to start, but this got rather firm from middle-through-finish and had a drying end that didn't thrill me tonight.

Red
2008 Alain Hudelot-Noëllat Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
92 points
Open for an hour before serving, this was hitting on all cylinders. Unmistakably Vosne with savory Chinese five spice, slowly maturing red cherry and berry and enough intensity and concentration to provide gravitas. In its peak drinking window, great to enjoy over the next decade+.

Red
2008 Domaine de L'Arlot Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Open an hour before serving, this was still clearly reduced to start, then slowly emerged from its shell. Slowly. My last glass was 5+ hours after the bottle was opened, and was clearly the most enjoyable. While still not clearly Vosne styled (I'd have thought this Gevrey 1er if served blind), there is a lot of rich black fruit with dark chocolate, black pepper and a meaty finish. I won't approach another bottle for several more years, because I think this was good (89 points) when served, but much better (91+ points?) several hours later.
