Tasted August 31, 2019 - September 3, 2019 by OmiyaDrinker with 216 views

Introduction

While the LMHB was a little underwhelming, a good tasting with no bad bottles and several very good ones.

Flight 1 (7 notes)

Red
1979 Château Prieuré-Lichine France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux
90 points
Saline, dusty, weighty but quite simplistic.
Red
1986 Château Haut-Bages Libéral France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
90 points
Still has some life on the nose. Life on the palate also. Still some tannic group.
Red
1989 Château Lanessan France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
91 points
Lively nose. Balanced, smooth mouth feel, spicy. Cherry, warm fruit. Just a touch of tar. Long finish
Red
1993 Château Troplong Mondot France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
86 points
Ripe, round nose, dark plum. Enticing in the beginning, this has faded in the mid-palate
Red
1994 Château Smith Haut Lafitte France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
91 points
Balanced, restrained nose. Very long finish, some salty minerality. A little bit of caramel on the finish.
Red
1995 Château La Mission Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
92 points
Pencil shavings, cassis, plum, dark cherry, super polished mouthfeel. Bold, ripe attack but perhaps a little underpowered in the mid-palate through the finish
Red
1970 Château de Fieuzal France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
92 points
Little bit of poop but generally quite fresh. Very spicy, exotic palate. Delicious.
