Magnum. Full straw to pale gold. Maybe a little more evolved than ideal, but very fresh and rounded compared to some bottle of this. This is lovely. Some toasty, biscuity maturity,but freshness and line too. Really very good, bar possibly just a slight lack of drive on the finish. Nonetheless, super wine. ****1/2

Pale straw. A touch of lanolin and wet wool on the nose, but more mineral and clean than anything. Similar on palate. Quite lithe, nicely mineral and with a touch of lanolin: very linear and consistent from start to finish — no development or late palate complexity but a very fine, linear wine that finishes with good length. ****

This has really developed well over the past eight years. Mid to full gold, rich on the nose with apricot, peach, almond kernel, lanolin and a touch of dried beeswax on the nose. Similar on the palate, a lovely combination of richness with complexity and more drive than one might expect from its low-acid frame. Deep, complex and very smooth/harmonious. *****,

Smooth, mellow and fully resolved. Some slightly gamer, sou-bios elements against a backdrop of mellow red fruit and caramel. 27 years and a lighter vintage = friendly Faiveley ****

Darker-fruited and more complex than the 92 alongside. Darker, more tannin and more acidity. A slightly furry texture. This hints more at the C de Nuits. Lots of interest here. Complex, nuanced and plenty of life. ****

Beautifully detailed and resolved. Briary dark red fruit that develops a haunting blackberry nose. Smooth, the Zin tempered by PS. Smooth, rounded but long and complex. Just so smooth. Gorgeous. *****

Katz cellar. Cabernet-led nose, Syrah richness at the edges. Similar to previous bottles, this is nuanced and long. Lovely. ****1/2

As per last bottle two years ago, 09 and MG, what’s not to like? A touch of vanilla, but rich, plush and lush. Sexy wine. ****

Dar, dense, brooding and serious. There’s depth here, complexity and structured fame. It’s not flashy or giving, but it’s very serious and very good. Proper wine. ****
