Red
2011 Logodaj Winery Melnik Sunny Hill Bulgaria, Struma River Valley

Dark purple red. Dark cherries in the bouquet. On the palate cherries, some blue berries, spiciness and very firm acidity. Also quite much heat from the alcohol. With more airtime the wine became a little more acceptable…..
Red
2012 Sensas Vin de Pays d'Oc Vieilles Vignes France, Languedoc Roussillon, Vin de Pays d'Oc
76 points
Dark purple red. Cherries and dairy impressions in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Red currants as well. A lot of acidity and no refinement. More airtime did the wine some good.
Red
2011 Alta Vista Bonarda Premium Argentina, Mendoza
74 points
Dark purple red. Dark cherries in the bouquet. On the palate cherries and a lot of unpleasant acidity and too much bitterness. Herbal and green impressions. As far as I'm concerned, this plonk does not have to be imported into Europe.
Red
2007 Lungarotti Montefalco Sagrantino Italy, Umbria, Montefalco, Montefalco Sagrantino

Almost black wine. In the bouquet concentrated cassis, blackberries and lavender. On the palate black forest fruits as well. Some earthy impressions. Dark chocolate. Firm amount of acidity and tannin. A fork and knife wine at the moment. Needs another 4 - 6+ years of ageing. 88+
Red
2009 Herdade dos Grous Vinho Regional Alentejano Moon Harvested Portugal, Alentejano, Vinho Regional Alentejano
88 points
Almost black. Concentrated blackberries in the bouquet. On the palate ripe as well as unripe blackberries; so there is a good amount of acidity. Spiciness, some bell peppers and white pepper. Firm tannin and some sweetness. Firm dose of oak. Overall a concentrated and good wine with some complexity. Will improve with another 3 - 5+ years of ageing.
Red
2011 Jean Montbray Saumur-Champigny France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur-Champigny
85 points
Clear purple red. The bouquet is still reticent but shows some creamy fruits; blackberries. On the palate cherries, spiciness and green bell peppers. Mild acidity and tannin. Nothing really special, but an ok wine. Wait 2 or 3 years.
Red
2009 DiGiorgio Family Merlot Lucindale Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast
84 points
Garnet red. Fruit lemonade bouquet; very ripe fruits. On the palate a concentrated wine with a lot of acidity (which you don't expect with this bouquet) and also a lot of sweetness. Some eucalyptus. Firm dose of oak and alcohol. The oak is quite dominant. This is not the standard Merlot as you expect it. Not my favorite.
Red
2011 Fetzer Pinot Noir Fetzer Crimson USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County
82 points
Transparent red with a slightly garnet rim. Candy fruits in the bouquet. On the palate candy fruits again, some minerals, lavender and a firm amount of acidity. For me this is more a gamay style of wine than a pinot noir.
Red
2009 Domaine de L'Arjolle Z France
83 points
Quite lush bouquet with ripe fruits. On the palate a lot of acidity. Also spiciness and bitterness. Not a wine to write a book about.
Red
1999 Gansu Mogao Industrial Development Co. Pinot Noir Mogao Dry Red Wine China, Gansu
Red brown color. Tea, coffee and chocolate in the bouquet. On the palate quite thin with notes of tea, chocolate and chamomile. There is acidity, but no tannin. Way past its peak, but I have the impression there was some structure in this wine several years ago. My first Pinot Noir from China, so that is special anyway! No score.
Red
2003 Matanzas Creek Winery Merlot Bennett Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Bennett Valley
Dark garnet red. Not unpleasant chocolate impressions in the bouquet. On the palate chocolate as well, some sweetness and ok acidity. The tannin is completely dissolved. The wine is past its peak, but still drinkable. No "official" score, but for my personal reference 85 seems to be right.

2003 Stonestreet Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley USA, California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley

Dark red. Ripe dark fruits in the bouquet. Same on the palate. Chocolate, sweet spices, tobacco, some sweetness and ok acidity. The wine is quite mature and definitely at its peak. Ok wine. Drink now or very soon.
Red
1994 Réserve de la Comtesse France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
Chocolate brown color. In the bouquet chocolate and pleasant barnyard, but quite mature. On the palate tea, organic impressions, sweet spices, no fruits and completely integrated and softened tannin. Still pleasant acidity. This bottle is past its peak but it is not representative, because it has been standing upright in a shop for many years. Still a pleasure to drink if you like really mature wine, but no score from me for today.
Red
2001 Vergelegen Cabernet Sauvignon South Africa, Coastal Region, Stellenbosch
88 points
Special and a bit burnt bouquet. On the palate some rubber. A bit dusty, chocolate, some bell pepper. Ok acidity. The wine is mature and the tannin fully integrated. Completely ready now. Drink now or soon. 88-
