White - Sparkling
2012 Perrier-Jouët Champagne Belle Epoque France, Champagne
92 points
Glass: Gabriel Standard
Very yeasty nose that cleaned up with time in the glass. On the palate very round, soft, balanced and harmonious and without the usual oaky notes. Fine mousseux, good length. Beautiful already, but no need to hurry. 92

White
2020 Julian Haart J.J. Riesling Kabinett Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
87 points
Glass: Gabriel Standard
Fresh and crisp middle class Mosel Kabi. For me still a bit young and nervous, but already drinkable. If you give it 1-2+ years it will certainly gain some more complexity and balance. Nice and joyful.

Rosé
2021 Château Giscours Le Rosé X Giscours France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Rosé
86 points
Glass: Riedel black blind tasting Glass
Tasted completely blind. Guessed Sauvignon blanc, than Jura, than some Loire CabFranc :) Never thought Bordeaux Rose. Fresh and nice summer wine that can be drunk over the course of the next 2-3 years, but I doubt it gains more complexity. Really interesting experience with the black glasses. 86-87

Flight 4 (3 notes)

White
2007 Reichsrat Von Buhl Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Pfalz
93 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Deep, complex and smoky nose. On the palate as weel deep and complex. Round and balanced, soft texture, very mineral and long. What a beauty on its very peak. Never guessed von Buhl. What a pleaseant suprise. 93
White
2012 Weingut Keller Hubacker Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheinhessen
92 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Nose was quite closed at the beginning, than some ripe, tropical/pineapple fruit and chalky mineral notes appeared that reminded me of Keller.
On the palate beautiful tension, great mineral core with a lot of rock flour. Ripe fruit. Beautiful texture. Very good length. But also painfully young and not yet showing its full potential. There is more to come within the next 3-5+ years. 92-93++
White
2007 Wittmann Westhofener Kirchspiel Riesling Großes Gewächs Germany, Rheinhessen
94 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Popped and poured, tasted blind. Youthful pale golden color. Wonderful complex and deep Riesling nose.
On the palate quite lean, very fresh and youthful. Incredible minerall core, still some lemon notes and ripe stone fruit mixed with fresh garden herbs. Wonderful complexity and length. Would never guessed Kirchspiel and never guessed 2007. What a wonderful suprise. This bottle even had upscale potential. 94+

Red
2012 Weingut Bercher Burkheimer Feuerberg Spätburgunder Spätlese Großes Gewächs Germany, Baden
90 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Deep ruby color. Nose easily identifiable as German Spätburgunder. On the palate some not so well integrated oak, a bit green, meagre and harsh. Mineral. Good texture and length. Drinks well now, but no need to hurry. 89-90
Red
2012 Château Cissac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
89 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Pirate, that was easily detected as a good solid Crus Burgeoise. 88-89

Flight 6 (3 notes)

Red
2012 Weingut Keller Morstein Spätburgunder Germany, Rheinhessen
95 points
First vintage of this wine.
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Youthful clear ruby color. Beautiful nose with wild strawberries, fresh raspberry, herbs. Complex and deep.
On the palate again a wonderful clear fruit (now adding red currant). That is most likely not Burgundian, but if it is German than it is rather unique in style. Wonderful pressure and tension, but never broad or muscular. Very mineral, herbaceous and overal complex. Fine and elegant tannin. Great texture and structure. Long, lingering finish. Still a bit young and with some upscale potential. Best DE Pinot so far in my life. 94-95+

2012 Gantenbein Pinot Noir Switzerland, Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden, Fläsch
93 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Medium garnet color, more advaced and mature as the Keller Morstein.
Also a non Burgdundian, but nevertheless beautiful Pinot nose with lots of fine fruit and some toasting aromas.
On the palate also more advanced as the Morstein. Not old, but ready for the show and still fresh. Beautiful acidity and tannin, nice fruit, beautiful texture and structure. But a bit too much oak and vanilla for my personal taste. Nevertheless the best Gantenbein Pinot I have drunk so far and a very beautiful wine that will stay on this level probably another decade.
Red
2012 Domaine Perrot-Minot Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambertin Grand Cru
94 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Deep, ruby color. Nose easily hints towards Burgundy with its finesse, elegance and complexity.
We were quite certain, that this is the Chambertin, but I was not overly impressed of its current performance. It has everything it needs, but needs 5+ years to develop the complexity and balance it should have. We re-tasted the wine after 1-2 hours and it has significantly improved, so it really needs a lot of air and patience. Nevertheless it has a wonderful structure, powerful, but silky tannin and a wonderful length. 93-94++ Would love to taste it again in 5 years against the Morstein and would like to see, how they have developed...

Red
2012 Dorst & Consorten Spätburgunder Dorst & Bietighöfer La dernier crie Germany, Pfalz
87 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Hmm, yes, good middle-class German Spätburgunder, but nothing to remember. Lean and rather green and herbaceous. 87-88
Red
2012 Bischöfliches Weingut Rüdesheim Assmannshausen Pinot Noir S trocken Germany, Rheingau
89 points
Glass: Zalto Burgundy
Tasted blind. Wine decanted about 1h before. Step up from the Dorst & Bietighöfer. Lean, herbaceous, high acidity, good grip and length.89

Flight 8 (1 note)

White - Off-dry
1997 Willi Schaefer Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
93 points
Glass: Gabriel Standard
Unfortunately drunk after a long range of other wines. Classic Willi Schaefer. Wonderful balance and harmony. Never loud. But also with an amazing acidity, that is perfectly integrated and gives the wine a beautiful freshness. Long and lingering finish. This bottle was at its full peak. 92-93
