Introduction

A glorious summer evening

Flight 1 - Before the performance started (2 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) Champagne France, Champagne
Consistent with previous. From magnum. All loved for its purity and finesse.
White - Sparkling
2014 Sugrue Pierre The Trouble With Dreams United Kingdom, England, Sussex, West Sussex
Good but rich and unbalanced after the Rothschild champagne from magnum.

Flight 2 - Interval / dinner (1 note)

Red
2006 Château Léoville Poyferré France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
From magnum, decanted for a couple of hours. Consistent with previous, opened up very nicely. Good match for slightly-spicy shredded lamb in filo pastry.

Flight 3 - Evening in the gardens (3 notes)

Red
2009 Château Calon-Ségur France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
PnP. Very good tho would have benefited from a bit more air, just a touch hard straight from the bottle.
Red - Fortified
1970 Taylor (Fladgate) Very Old Single Harvest Port Limited Edition Portugal, Douro, Porto
Wonderful. Rich and intense but fresh right to the end. Long. Decanter describes “lovely toasty, malty complexity” - much fresher and more elegant than I was expecting. Greatly enjoyed.

Red
2015 Château Sénéjac France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc
PnP. Agree with the consensus; needs more time or more air.
