Flight 1 (4 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Palmer & Co Champagne Brut Réserve France, Champagne
Pastry-shop nose. Yeasty palate, tightly wound, long lemon and sour-honey finish. VG.
Rosé - Sparkling
N.V. Lanson Champagne Extra Age Brut Rosé France, Champagne
Pink in the bottle but strawberry-blonde in the glass. Provençal rosé nose of berries and cream, perhaps layered on a scone (baked sweetness). Very dry and savoury on the palate (no berries, no sweetness) and fades rather quickly, although good energy and long finish.
White
2020 Oak Valley Chardonnay Beneath the Clouds South Africa, Cape South Coast, Elgin
Immediate oaky-chard nose, quite soft on the palate (although taut not at all flabby) with a touch of green alongside the vanilla. Good.
Red
2007 Château Corbin Michotte France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Clear signs of age in the glass, bricking. Very enticing red-fruit nose, really draws you in. Palate is much more savoury and almost sour/sharp alongside the cedar, spice, and vanilla tannins. A very pleasant discovery.
