Red
2015 Jean-Luc Jamet Côte-Rôtie Les Terrasses France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
92 points
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. Charming black cherry and plum with very good concentration, with the spice profile typical in Côte-Rôtie slightly obscured right now. Better from 2025 forward, or even better from 2030, 92-93 point potential.

2016 E. Guigal Côte-Rôtie La Turque France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie
95 points
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. Dense, meaty and backward, far more than typical from Turque at this age, but a clear powerhouse with a broad cross-section of exciting black fruit and spice. This needs until at least 2030.

2016 J.L. Chave Sélection St. Joseph Offerus France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. So balanced, harmonious, and accessible with good weight and perfectly Northern Rhone style. Wonderful now through 2030.

Red
2018 E. Guigal St. Joseph Vignes de L'Hospice France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, St. Joseph
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. Dense, brooding, and powerful, this is much more interesting than tasty right now. Needs cellar time.

2013 Louis Barruol Hermitage La Pierrelle France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
90 points
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. Old school with good energy and meaty black fruit. Long finish hints at what might emerge with cellar time. I liked this, but wanted to like it more.
Red
2016 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
96 points
Opened 3 hours, decanted 1 hour before tasting. Already a "wow" wine with brilliant black cherry on nose and palate, seemingly accessible and so balanced, but going on and on as it unfolds even further. Great now, upside from here.
