Flight 1 (10 notes)

Red
2016 Trediberri Barolo Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Starter; pale duller ruby, see through; slight volatility, soft plum, pretty and demure, high acid, cherry, simpler, good; maybe someone good's Barbera like Mascarello?; huh? I'd say this needs time but feels like it's more mature than it is already.

2014 Domaine Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchère France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Bound up, flinty, steely, some peach, pie crust, mineral, structured, a glistening marble turret on the hillside, compact, young, late sizzling acid; Mouchere?

Red
2008 Joseph Drouhin Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Rouge France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru
Somewhat cloudy, aged, orange rim; celery seed, raspberry, aged, leather, tart cranberry, tea, acid still pops, iron and stone, cooked fruits, balsamic, thinner on palate, dusty earth; a touch hard to decipher, went from Burg to N. Rhone to CdP/Gigondas here, called '08 Cote Rotie.

2009 Gros Frère et Sœur Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
flawed
Bacon fat, ripe and powerful fruit but slight corkiness ruins the wine.

Red
2003 Gaja Langhe Nebbiolo Sorì Tildìn Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Langhe DOC
Darker core, deep ruby maroon; sexy oak evident right off the bat, ripe powerful fruit, licorice, spice, modern but so well integrated, not the longest finish, glorious nose, mahogany, gentler tannins, still fresh, seems like a hot year; 2007 Chiara Boschis?

2019 David Duband Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbé France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
Pretty see through ruby; young fresh and sexy, juicy, high toned, lovely herb, some darker fruit on the palate, lots of bass, late mineral, purple hibiscus, a touch of alcohol too; mine.

Red
2013 Querciabella Camartina Italy, Tuscany, Toscana IGT
Dense opaque core with purple rim; tar, volatility, young, bordering on raisin, prune, textured, black fruit, black currant, chestnut, velvety tannins, sits on palate nicely, black licorice; the volatility was a bit much on day 1 but when revisiting on day 2 the balance was really beautiful, I guess this just needs some time.

Red
2007 Luciano Sandrone Barolo Le Vigne Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barolo
Cloudy ruby maroon; sandalwood, sexy nose, nutty, oak, modern, still sweet purple fruit, plum, violets, in a good spot, some oak tannin; very good, just a touch fresher than the '03 Gaja but similar in style and seemingly warm year, called '07 Gaja.

Super dark core with thin garnet rim; graphite, black fruit, slight prune, bramble and earth, funk, black truffle, a juicy finish, some green, somewhat rugged; really good, '03 Poyferre?

The Gaja, Montrose, and Sandrone were all very good, but I believe the Henri Boillot was voted #1 today.
