Showed slightly green but with telling chambolle rose florals with pretty red fruit. Palate not exceedingly complexed, tannins silky, medium acidity but finish shorter than expected. Not too excited with this particular showing.

Great showing. Baking spices, savory meats, dark red fruit and macerated cherries with regal opulence and power. This showed power amidst velvety viscosity with silky and integrated tannins. 2004 greenness completely missing in this gem and the result, layered complexity, great structure, wonderful finish and easily my WOTN.

2014 Maison Albert Bichot Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru

Drinking REAL nicely indeed. Initial bouquet felt like it's going to be hugely stubborn - dried flower petals and sage, but actually drinking really well at this stage! Exuding class and power, whilst showing off good complexity and structure. Tannins starting to integrate nicely at this point.
Red
2006 Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
92 points
Perfumed notes of roses, purity of fruit with an ethereal and weightless sense of elegance. Lingonberry strangely persistent with some icing sugar on the palate with footprints of spices and a sliver of gevrey gameyness. Overall, great finesse and purity.
Red
2005 Nicolas Potel Clos Vougeot France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
93 points
A lifted style complete with dark ripe fruit which was showing quite correctly for the vintage. Good depth and layered with some complexity while showing quite elegant. What was slightly confusing to me was that my experience with Potel wines have always been a bit more burly, masculine and at times, even a little brash with a stubborn tannic structure - this has changed my mind about Potel!

Corked.

Last had this at the turn of the year and this experience was much better. Dark and ripe red fruit, sage and violets with nice extraction. A little burly and masculine with some strong oak/cedar and spices. Showing quite different from the last bottle I had and starting to drink.

Drank alongside Leflaive Chevalier

Straw yellow in glass. Bouquet a tad reticent and not quite showy. Jasmines, limestone and pear emerged after some coaxing. Spices, pear, grapefruit, limestone on the palate and overall presenting a touch leaner than the Chevy, I thought this could be down to age and that it needed a bit more time to flesh out. Great finish with the same zingy and lifting acidity as the Chevy.

Pale yellow in glass. Absolutely loved the bouquet on this from the get go, intoxicating kaffir lime/curry leaf, raw sesame, lemon butter and jasmine. This had a touch of unriped apricots, a ton of minerals and white flowers (lilies and jasmine). Overall this was showing good strength, tension but most importantly, incredible precision with crisp and zingy acidity.
