Floral notes, chamomile, sharp green apple and a touch of spice. It's sharp, sour and unyielding on the palate with a long, peppery finish. It's very 'Falkenstein' but too tight and austere to be truly enjoyable for my palate

Apple, white peach, kumquat and wet slate, woody spice and herbal lift. Clean and clear on the palate entry but ends slightly claggy with a blocky sweetness that isn't quite integrated by Falkenstein's standards. I imagine it'll come together, but rated as I tasted it.

Sour apple, slate, sherbet and a savoury, grippy density on the nose. The residual sugar, acidity and overall structure is just perfect. The hard-edged green apple profile is assertive but framed and softened beautifully. Excellent

The nose is quite captivating: mineral and floral, vegetal notes of decaying rose petals and apple skins. Stony, precise and sour on the palate, vertical but with breadth and depth. Excellent value for a wine with this level of interest.

Stony and savoury, notes of green apple, sharp lemon and white peach. There's a touch of residual sugar with a good level of presence and depth on the palate. A pithy chew on the finish. Very good value

Something of a Burgundian character to this: a clean and pure struck match aroma and a mealy breadth to the palate. Toothsome, structural and mineral - it's not a fruit-driven wine - but very drinkable and persistent. Really enjoyed this.

My rocky relationship with this producer continues - I've enjoyed the odd dry Herrenberg but crikey I really don't like this. Eggy reduction, over-ripe to my palate, cloying and grippy sweetness. Yuk.

Really quite complete. Slate, spice and green mango. The sweetness and acidity play off eachother beautifully and it's very persistent on the finish. Good value

Very nicely done. A lovely style- almost a by-the-numbers Mosel Kabi, but executed at such a high level: green apple, lemon and spice. A good amount of residual sugar but beautifully prominent cleansing acidity. Really fresh, tart and drinkable. Great stuff

My note says 'classy AF', so there you go. Quite subtle and low-key. Dialled back but complex with floral and herbal lift on the nose. Ripe fruited, acidity is present but it's quite tender and approachable. Refined and ready to go.

Lip-smacking. Lovely tart and savoury depth on the palate, wonderfully balanced, so clean and fresh. This is what Kabinett is all about. Super value.

Apple, white peach, smoke and a touch of reduction. Really concentrated on the palate - gets a bit bogged down with the weight of sugar on the mid palate but a sharp seam of acidity gives it zing and lift on the finish.

Totally delicious. The subtlety of Donnhoff's house style lets the floral and herbal aromatics express themselves against a background of gently concentrated ripe white and yellow fruit. Sweet but very light on its feet, finishing fresh.

Excellent. Grilled smoky pineapple, lime and hibiscus. Some savoury depth to the palate and ample acidity. Chewy, long finish. It's clean, fresh and balanced - all the elements in harmony already. Wine of the tasting for me.

I thought this was a really cool wine. The uncompromisingly direct, sinewy house style is a lot of fun against this level of residual sugar and ripeness. I often find the level of reduction in S-F's wines hard to get around but it works here. There's ripe and smoky yellow fruit which sits behind slate, spice and mineral depth. Powerful acidity is sharp and bracing, slicing through that sweetness. Very distinctive.

So luxurious and fresh. Lusciously sweet but spicy and clean, killer acidity tightens everything up and it finishes with a zing.
