2017 Domaine Vocoret et Fils Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru

This was flowing immediately with perfumed tones of lemon peels, apples, mint, a touch of yoghurt, pears, vanilla, jasmine, peaches, and saline. There is very good depth and definition here to the nose. It does lack a little bit of tension, but the citrus flavors work so perfectly with each other. The Medium bodied feel is deft and balanced with mouthwatering, medium+ acidity. This could benefit from a couple of years of aging, but I don't think this is one to hold for a long time. It is a lovely Premier Cru Chablis that really hits all of the spots I want it to hit.

The nose is open-knit and highly expressive with deep tones of warm dough, red apples, fresh bakery notes, lemon peel, red berries, baking spices, pears, and some brioche. This leans more autolytic than the 16 Les Ursules did, but it is also in full harmony on the nose. The Medium bodied feel is silky and satin with integrated, high acidity. This is drinking in a beautiful spot. There is a lot to love as it shows off all sorts of elegance and refinement with a delicious undercurrent of autolytic notes.

2016 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard Champagne Millésimé Blanc de Noirs Les Ursules France, Champagne

The nose is so youthful and energetic, filling the glass with strawberries, creams, toast, pears, mineral tones, quince, nectarines, apples, and acacia flowers. There is so much freshness and balance to the nose that it is so easy to get lost in. The Medium bodied feel is poised and deep with razor sharp, high acidity that does have some bite to it. This is extremely good and extremely young. There is definite upside for when this gets closer to 12 years old and on. So much is happening here and with just so much class.
