White - Sparkling
N.V. Bonnet Gilmert Champagne Grand Cru La Réserve Brut Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

From Oger, Avize and Le Mesnil, full malo, at least 24 months sur lattes. Good terroir expression, a friendlier style, you might even say a bit loose, but the acidity is quite tart and the dosage shows a little. Nice enough but a bit disjointed.
White
2019 Domaine Labet Chardonnay Les Champs Rouges France, Jura, Côtes du Jura
96 points
Sélection massale planted between 1967 and 1974, aged for 20 months in 350 / 500 litre barrels, bottled 28 August 2021, TA 5.51 gr/l, SO2 total 7 mg/l, vinified without any addition, 13.8% ABV. Absolutely marvellous. Huge energy, hard to put into words except that (or because of?) it’s an essence of its terroir. Salty, driven and long, star quality.
White
2019 Domaine Michel Niellon Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St. Jean France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
93 points
Rich and glossy fruit, noticeable but well-judged oak, hint of earth and spicy wood, ripe style (especially for this cool vineyard) but no lack of freshness and acidity, flavoursome and long.
White
2019 Azienda Agricola Valentini Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Italy, Abruzzi, Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
96 points
Identical to my previous note. Mind-blowing stuff.

Tasted blind. Very impressive, concentrated, flawless purity of fruit, flowers and chalk, perfectly judged spicy new oak, real impact, power and elegance, firm structure, long and driven finish. Stupendous quality, incredible for a villages wine, tasting blind I guessed top-notch Échézeaux.

Tight and grippy, light and bright, fully mature, undergrowth. Not much charm.

Rich fruit, powerful and concentrated, energetic, firm structure. Everything that it should be.
