2016 Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Premier Cru Terre de Vertus France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
First crack with this vintage. September 2022 disgorgement so a good solid 5 years on the lees. 100% Chard, farmed bio-d, no dose which is the way for this cuvee. I didn't start drinking this wine until the 2012 vintage, and I have liked them all, aside from the 2015 which is pretty lean. This bottle pours with a brassy color. Real good fruit presence and texture in this vintage. It reminds me of an orange marmalade with a generous yellow apple, shaded by a gingery spice that energizes the wine from palate through the finish. Then, when I had let the wine get pretty close to room temp 70f, a thought shot through my senses....hey, this is like a slice of apple pie. The apple, some cinnamon spice and a bit of pastry. Pretty cool moment. Yep, some saline here too, to be expected given the style and soil but it's more present when the wine is cooler, replaced by more of the fruit when the wine is allowed to stretch out and shed its colder jacket. And plenty of citrus in the finish, even some anise and toast (likely from the wood). Really good iteration of Terre de Vertus--good stuffing, definition and balance....on the second day this added much more citrus and some structure too within the wine.

2012 Marguet Champagne Grand Cru Les Crayères France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Disgorged October 2017. Roughly 3/4 PN and 1/4 Chard. I kept wanting to say savory in my notes, Not to mean lean or negative in tone, but that a savory, earthy sense was in the wine. Apple and salinity. Have some leftover from last night so I have the good fortune to retaste again and improve my note here...

2012 Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier d'Or France, Champagne, Champagne Premier Cru
April 2016 disgorgement. Lots of fresh apple, and it's very prominent while the wine was cold. I had called this as Grand Cellier as I wasn't getting the tangerine that is so much a signature of GCdO, but when this finally shed the chill, the tangerine rushed in, along with some pastry and pear. Finishes with flint and lime zest. Damn good again, but this vintage of GCdO always warms my heart.

N.V. Alexandre Filaine Champagne Cuvée Spéciale France, Champagne
Bottle bale shows L16 so I assume that is the base year. The cork had a 20 on it so perhaps that is the disgorge year. Juicy style. Lime flesh, flint, some light smoke and seemed pretty accessible to me, showing well.

N.V. Domaine Pêcheur Crémant du Jura France, Jura, Crémant du Jura
I really enjoyed this, especially having it mixed into a dinner of blind Champagne. Lemony, Stony. Balanced and polished, with some red fruit edges in the finish.

2018 Hermann J. Wiemer Cuvée Brut USA, New York, Finger Lakes, Seneca Lake
I think I have picked the correct wine here for my note. Disgorged March 2023, 65% Chard and 35% Pinot Noir. Really loved the aromatic, and this was especially true as this wine competed blind with an array of very good blind Champagne. Moderate complexity. Layered with a juicy, fruit-forward style. Mainly a palate wine, with some anise.

2005 Tarlant Champagne la Lutetienne Prestige Millesime France, Champagne
Disgorged November 2021, so a longggg time on the lees. 80% Chard and 20% Pinot Noir with no dose. The initial aromas on this was kinda weird, with a celery and white pepper, a little stinky. With air this becomes a lemony an spicy wine, with a lot of citrus peel that creates length. My challenge I had was the spicy aspect to the wine, an oily-ilke citrus. I would have loved to retaste this again today, and I just wonder if I have captured the wine properly.

2012 A. R. Lenoble Champagne Grand Cru Chouilly Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Dosage of 3 gms, no other label info. This is a true to place BdB, with a lemon signature, along with apple, in a juicy, fleshy style. There is some supporting chalk in the texture, with a mainly suave finish. This seems to be drinking pretty well now.

2016 Marie Courtin Champagne Presence France, Champagne
September 2021 disgorgement. 70% Chard and 30% Pinot Blanc with no dose, and I think sans soufre, too. I've had a few bottles of this vintage previously so I have some experience with it but last night's initial showing puzzled me. The nose was this odd mix of something herbal, what the group called juniper berry, and what I called white pepper and processed meat, like a salami. After some puzzled looks and some laughs, I found some pineapple that aligns to my past notes. Improved with air but still retained the gamy note that was part of the initial aroma. Another wine I would like to have retasted tonight. I have been buying Presence since it was first made in 2015, and have a vertical of all the vintages, many I have really liked, but last night's was a little weird, maybe off? Dunno know.
