Introduction

Another evening with our best friends. This time it was David's turn to provide us with the food and wine. He did an outstanding job on the steaks and Beth provided the squash. Simple meal with outstanding wines.

Flight 1 - starter for the evening (2 notes)

Just sitting around the bar, in no hurry and a great couple of bottles to start with.

White
2000 Domaine Matrot Meursault Les Chevalières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault
90 points
Very nice bouquot. Soft on the palate. Just didn't have the punch of a good Meursault. Very nice.
White
2003 Domaine Christian Moreau Père et Fils Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
92 points
Great color, flavor good. This is the way a grand cru chablis should taste. Mighty fine way to start the evening.

Flight 2 - Steaks with squash (2 notes)

David cooked these steaks to perfection.

Red
1985 Clos de l'Église (Lalande de Pomerol) France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Lalande de Pomerol
94 points
Great deep and bright color. Flavor lasted on the palate for some time. Quite different when paired with the '70 Latour
Red
1970 Château Latour Grand Vin France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
96 points
The initial nose was all bordeaux. Permeated the room it was so strong. Very well stored. Deep dark color, like prune without the smell. This is at its peak and will stay there for some time. WOW

Flight 3 - Key Lime pie (1 note)

my favorite way to end an evening.

White - Sweet/Dessert
1994 Bonny Doon Vineyard Muscat Canelli Vin de Glacière USA, California
91 points
Great color, flavor of honey and aftertaste 30 seconds.
