Flight 1 (2 notes)

Red
2001 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
92 points
Ruby tim, no sign of purple.
Intense toasty oak nose of (burnt) coffee which grew less intense and more sweetly perfumed.
Smooth sweet oak on attack, noticably high acid, drinking now, new world style, some warmth on finish.
Red
1999 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
92 points
Less vibrant colour than the 1999.
Calmer nose, slight undergrowth notes, more succulent fruit on midpalate, less ripe.
Perhaps a little simple

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
2000 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
95 points
Like the 2001, oak a little too prominant, slight menthol element.
More body, tannin ends slightly astringent though, I think this is only just settling down and finding itself.
Red
1998 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
93 points
Fresh hot chili on nose. A lighter style than the other young wines, well balanced, smooth slightly spicy oak and dark blackcurrent and dark cherry, nice feel to it.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1995 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
88 points
Significant bricking to the light cherry colour, mature.
Quite dump on the nose.
All very pleasant, medium-light body, some fruit remaining, not enough to this though, already past it?
Red
1994 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Verging on brown.
Volitile and slightly oxidised.
On palate, very light fruit, not very nice though.
NR

Flight 4 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
96 points
Dried fruit, prune and fig on nose, layers of fruit and tar.
Plump sweet candied fruit, orange peel and raisin, not overly concentrated. Quite special
Red
1989 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
95 points
Quite similar to the 1990, opinons were split as to which was preferred.
Very complex, again sweet plum prune and cherry notes, tiny hint of menthol, velvet tannin that just glides across the palate

Flight 5 (3 notes)

Red
1988 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
93 points
Quite dark in colour, clear bricking.
A slightly dirty note to the nose.
Lacks the lush fruit of the 89 and 90, and suffered for coming after them.
Red
1985 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
96 points
Hard to pin the nose down, less dried fruit than the 89 and 90, but equally ripe.
Superbly balanced, very perfumed. Even more complexity on the palate than the nose. Very special.
Likely peaking right now.
Red
1982 Tertre Rôteboeuf France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
93 points
Very dry nose, slightly thin.
Oxo cubes and dried fruit on palate, much of the pleasure coming from the maturity, this has stood up to aging better than many of the others.
Drink soon though.

Flight 6 (7 notes)

White - Sparkling
N.V. Jacquesson & Fils Champagne Cuvée No. 728 France, Champagne
92 points
This is slowly moving to maturity, gaining weight since I tried it last nearly a year ago.
Still showing crisp bright granny smith notes
White
1999 Benoit Ente Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Smoky oak, nice and bright apple, pear and quince.
Very good.
Red
1989 Robert Ampeau & Fils Volnay 1er Cru Santenots France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Volnay 1er Cru
Very youthful primary fruit, light cherry and raspberry, a little too acidic though.
Red
2001 Felton Road Pinot Noir Block 3 New Zealand, South Island, Otago, Central Otago
Very nice primary fruit, great balance, superb now.
Red
2001 Amphorae Cabernet Sauvignon Israel, Galilee
93 points
Spicy Californian style, black pepper and concentrated blackcurrent, excellent, I really like this.
White
2001 Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne Domaine du Duc de Magenta France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Way too much oak for me.
Red
1995 Château Léoville Las Cases France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Sweet spicy oak, georgous supple tannin, excellent
