Introduction

Had Blake and JC over for a couple bottles of wine and pizza from Angelico Pizzeria.

Flight 1 (3 notes)

Red
2004 Casa Marin Pinot Noir Litoral Chile, San Antonio Valley

Very seductive nose full of sour cherries, and an attractive meatiness. This wine has great depth and character, and I felt that this was probably the 2nd or 3rd best pinot noir I've tasted recently. Very full-bodied pinot that seems to be hitting its stride right now.
Red
2007 Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Central Coast USA, California, Central Coast
87 points
Sweet nose of candied plums. Didn't necessarily have the depth that I was hoping for, and felt somewhat disjointed. This is a very fruit driven wine that was slightly over-the-top for my palate. Probably could use some time in bottle...
White - Sweet/Dessert
2005 Domaine des Baumard Coteaux du Layon Cuvée Le Paon France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Coteaux du Layon
93 points
Amazing depth on the nose of caramel, apricots, and kerosene. Mouthfeel of this wine is outrageous - totally coating my palate. The tropical fruits explode here, with pineapple, guava, passion fruit, mango and banana intermixed with caramel and white chocolate notes. Extrdoinarily sweet, but with extreme finesse and balance. Stunning bottle.
