S$380. Drunk over 2.5 hrs. Served blind. What a great bottle of wine. I really enjoyed this wine and even at this price, it would be difficult to get something that I enjoyed so much. In every aspect, this was a very serious wine. Great complex nose, full balanced palette, long finish. Pity it's so ex or I'd drink this everyday.

S$100. Not decanted, drunk over 3 hours. Served blind to me by my wife. Quite a classic Pauillac with the dark fruits and minerals present in this wine. The length of this wine was, for me, the saving grace. Quite a long finish and that was what made me guess that this was not a cheap (<$50) bottle. However, I don't think this wine is very balanced. Too much tannins with not enough fruit and complexity showing. I think maybe in 5 years it may open up to be more revealing, but as of now, this is not ready to be drunk. With this label, $100 is a fair price though I don't think I'll buy many more of this wine.

S$70. Not decanted, drunk over 1 hr. This wine was drunk after the disappointing 04 Desaunay Gevrey. It was far far better in every way. There wasn't any vintage on it, but the website says that that bottle was 2004. Good oak, good fruit with reasonable length. However, I wouldn't stock up on this for 2 big reasons. 1) I do not think that this is worth $70. In fact, unless it was half the price, I can think of many other wines to buy which are cheaper and better than this. 2) The bottle is very tall. While this is very aesthetically pleasing, it is very difficult to store in my wine fridge.
I have not really gone very deep into Italians at this point but this was a good experience for me with a wine that is not too expensive. This is not a bad wine by any means, and I am very glad to have tried it.

S$45? (I think that's how much I paid for this.) Not decanted, drunk 2 sips and another 30 mins later. In short, this is a terrible wine. Peanuts, vegetal, grassy, tao geh (bean sprouts) for the nose. Palette was dilute with very no finish. Half an hour later, none of the horribleness dissipated. Generally, I tend to hold Desaunay in quite high regard. I feel he makes very value for money wines and I have tasted most of what he has offered for the past few vintages. Perhaps this is an off bottle as opposed to being a poorly made wine in a poor vintage. However, unless there happens to be a free tasting and this bottle is featured, I have absolutely no desire to pay to find out.

S$190. Not decanted, drunk over 2 hrs. Very Big, Very Bold. Served blind and the consensus was 'new world wine'. Lots of cherries, oak and very high in tannins. I do not think that this wine is ready to drink and I would not open another bottle until 2015. The potential of this wine is immense, and when it finally evolves to get the 'mature Bordeaux' characteristic, it would no doubt be an excellent wine capable of a score >95. Price wise, I hesitate to say this is value for money at $190 despite its potential. In the next 5 years, barring a 98+ score revision by parker, I don't think the price will rise very much higher than the price it is at right now.

S$55. Decanted for 1 hour, drunk over 2. Started out with lots of strawberry and citrus notes, but over the course of 2 hrs, this died down and the flowery notes of CM began to show. Not complex by far, however, for $55, I feel it represents very good value for money. Very fresh with good acidity. On seeing the large change of the wine within 2 hours, I'm interested to see how this wine would evolve over the next year. However, the lack of complexity would preclude me from keeping this wine for more than 3 years.

S$220. Decanted 1 hr, drunk over 2. The wine didn't evolve considerably over the 2 hrs that it was drunk. Served blind to friends and the consensus is a classic left bank Bordeaux. Plenty of earth notes with good fruit and a high level of tannins. Pleasurable to drink now, but will wait another 3 yrs to allow the tannins to soften and for the wine to open up more. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed with the price-quality ratio, would readily pay $160 (wine and label).
