12/1/21, 3:47 PM - Probably could have been better stated as ‘getting a little tired’. Bottle variation most likely, and certainly not as bright as the previous bottle we’d consumed.
11/24/20, 6:26 PM - We drank this alongside a vaguely tandoori style rotisserie chicken (homemade). Decanted approx. 90 mins-2 hrs. Plenty of accolades sure, but 2012 was a hot vintage and those concentrated flavors tend to show.
9/7/19, 3:53 PM - Thanks for the recent note. I have one more bottle of this and it is great to hear that it is going strong. I would like to save it for its 30th birthday next year.
3/7/19, 5:00 PM - Follow your instincts and put that last bottle away -- forget about it until the back half of the next decade. I have tasted Rancias going back to 1990 and they are very good wines in their youth but on a different plane entirely after their 15th birthdays.
8/28/18, 8:16 AM - I sourced it from one of the Italian stores where I have had wine sent to the U.S. in the past. It was a combination of factors principally their importer/shipper's lack of care that resulted in the wine not being held safely in the warehouse and released to UPS on Friday evening of a heat wave, and then it sat in the UPS truck until end of day Monday while it hit 100 here.
8/12/18, 5:06 AM - Sounds like the bad bottle I drank a couple few weeks ago.
7/2/18, 8:22 AM - This was exactly what I was hoping for. I think with the "mix up" people (myself included) are pretty suspect about this wine - Garagiste does not have the best reputation in this regard - and the best way to know whether to push back is to hear from someone who has drank a bottle. I see what's in your cellar and I'd hardly call you a wannabe - if this were junk wine, you'd have known it. Nice to meet you and welcome to the community.
12/29/17, 3:34 PM - Pretty much. Maybe 10 minutes of air unlocked the fruit and we drank a good bit of it right out of the bottle. The rest sat for a couple hours (and was consumed without noting marked improvement).
4/19/17, 6:04 PM - With this wine, you just have to know what you are opening and act accordingly. Big steak, big starches, etc. I stopped buying Shiraz a few years ago but had bought a bunch of this and I'm still working it off.
9/15/16, 7:58 AM - Wuh-oh. That doesn't bode well.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
