Last bottle was 11/2021. It was fabulous. The wine has settled since then and it is in a great drink window. Tannins have settled and the fruit has receded somewhat Bramble, earth, blackberry, blueberry and vanilla. Finish is like velvet. Decanted 1/2 hour and needed more as it improved as consumed.

Amazing brightness here. I am going to go out on a limb and say these are ready to drink and 3 more years of this freshness. Drink by 2024. Blue fruit and a ton of floral notes. Great finish!

6/1/22, 10:53 AM - Agree. The Merlot is great, and the Cab Sauv is really, really good as well. I belong to Hedges and Chandler Reach. Both have excellent 16's

Wrong wine- oops!

Very good, drank over three days, best on day three, fleshed out and still very full of vigor. Loads of black fruits: cherry and plum, damp herbs and old wood. Very fresh. In the mouth, the wine is full bodied, +acid, med tannin, salty black plum, cherry, wet stone, liquorice, nice progression. Still very, very young. Needs a few more years, but is very approachable now. Had with grilled pork chop and asparagus.

This wine was rather watery and acidic. We hoped this would blow off after a while but did not. There was little evidence of fruit and overall very disappointing. Given its Cellar Tracker score was over 90 we were looking forward to a pretty decent wine. We ended up dumping half the bottle and drinking a different WA wine that was better. Sorry Soos Creek this did not do it for us.

8/2/20, 1:17 PM - I think you may have had an off bottle. Ours was excellent last week. We love WA wines, expecially Red Mountain Cabs. Cheers!

Evolved over 3 hours. Plum, blueberry, dusty tannins and metalic finish.
  • kcsteve commented:

6/5/20, 12:22 PM - It seems to me that Sarah Hedges Goedhart's wines are much better when aged. That's just my opinion and I admit that I like brickish aged wines if they are made well. I think her 2013 will go another 5 years if stored properly. I hope the metalic finish receeds a bit! I have a couple 2015's and I'll open one fairly soon. Cheers!

56% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre, 4% Cinsaut, with a barely translucent dark cherry color and the uplifting and graceful fragrance of a (this is not sexist) feminine Chateauneuf-du-Pape or perhaps a sweet and delicate smelling Spanish Garnacha without the additional earthiness or leather saddle smell.
The fruit is round and sweet with appropriately balanced acidity, soft supportive tannins, and a medium bodied supple mouthfeel.
This is not a fully extracted, in your face, bruiser of a wine, but a sophisticated and expertly crafted beauty. I must confess a lack of credible experience of tasting Yakima Valley wines, but I have very much enjoyed every wine I have had from this region and my Foodie-Oenophile Seattle brother in law started me on this regional quest and I hope to expand my search, especially with wines from Owen Roe.

Great QPR. Young, fresh, and unique. Tasting notes are a bit hazy as it was the 3rd bottle drank.

This drank very nicely, super smooth. It is food friendly too. The fruit veers slightly toward sweet/pruny, but not so much to be offputting. The wife does not like pruny wines at all and did not complain about this one. Good value at $24 and ready to drink. Will probably hold for a few years, but I'm not sure about the 2030 drinking window end date here. That seems a bit much.
  • kcsteve commented:

7/15/18, 7:55 AM - I agree on the drinking window being too far out. I did some research and lowered mine to 2024. Of course, who knows what the future holds! Cheers!

A steal of a wine. Deep, dense in color. Nose showed grape, herbs and spice. Palate was med-full body, light on palate, prunes, black fruit, spice and a touch of earth. Drying tannins and super acidity. Need substantial food, but so good just by itself. Holding other 2 til next year to see development.

2/26/15, 3:59 PM - I'm so sorry that I misinterpreted your note to me. It's easy to do in printed correspondence. In reply to your original question, I'm haven't had many Languedoc wines as I've been developing my palate by experiencing wines from all over the world. I liked this wine a lot although I'm really a fan of Italian wines that are light in body, full or fruit and acidity, and just great food wines. Again, sorry for the confusion! Hope we can talk again.

I really liked this - for the first hour, then it closed down and nail polish aromas waded in. Seems like it's got the structure, balance and beauty to age, and the first glass was flat out delicious, but when it shut down, and withdrew, it was rather unforgiving, and not very pleasant. Would love to revisit anytime between 2022 and 2030.

Bottle was leaking from under foil and dripping on other bottles. Opened and cork had no wine around edges...it was leaking through the cork itself, a first for me. Poured to examine and wine was garnet and clear. No sign or taste of oxidation. Still has very present but soft tannins and nice acidity. Get some black cherry, blackberry and spice. Nice long finish. Forced to drink early in the afternoon....some days are just good days.

Nose was closed until wine warmed slightly and was still not near as impactful as the palate. Peaches and cream, granny smith apple, a bit of pear and passive minerality. Fantastic acidity and tartness and just right sweetness that balanced with the alcohol. I Buy this wine every year and it never disappoints. Would like to lay down some bottles but it never happens. Too luscious.

Decanted 1 hr. Returned to open bottle for 3 hrs. Medium weight and color. Blackberry, cocoa, spice on palate. Tannin were a bit overbearing but settled as time passed. Good for the price.
