Mistaken this for younger Bordeaux wine of the 85'-95'. Like I always believe, good Napa cabernet lasts and drinks better when it's old.

Alex.Lewis: thank you, now I know the difference geographically.

Really over extracted. Hot, overly sweet, and a bit syrupy. I guess they had to do something with the leftover grapes from their better wines...

Garnet color of great depth. Extremely tight Nose gave-up just a hint of red-fruited jam. Full bodied on the palate, with flavors of juicy red fruits, spice, and sawdust. 15.8% alc. is carried well; soft/grippy tannins; well-balanced; short finish of moderate intensity. This sucker was in barrel for 9 years (not a typo) prior to its bottling just a couple weeks ago. No signs of oxidation. More impressive for being a clean wine than it is otherwise. Josh surmised that it may still be bottle shocked from its recent bottling.

2/22/17, 11:33 AM - Per the winemaker, it was in oak for just over 3 years, not 9.

I liked this bottle, but I've found plenty of other cheaper bottles that I've liked just as well if not better.

1/11/14, 5:26 PM - Shouldn't a wine's score be objective based on the quality of what's in the bottle, not on QPR?

Red
2010 Axis Mundi Grenache/Syrah Santa Ynez Valley Red Rhone Blend
I miss the old Sleepy Hollow Syrah from previous versions. Somehow this 2010 version always has a bit too intrusive barnyard funk... and not much else. I've got a whole case of this in the cellar if anyone wants it?

layers of flavor with just the right amount of toasted oak. Grilled pineapple, green apple, pear, cut grass, madrone skin and a wisp of sea air. Salinity with acid with a little butter. Great with all kinds of food. I like it best a little cooler than room temperature.

2000 Harrison Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Much better than I expected from this producer and this vintage. A nice, round bit of currant on the attack but a little lean and green on the short finish. No real depth but not unpleasant. Would be a decent $25-30 Cab with food, but at @$50 it was a terrible QPR.
