My first Mencia and if all of them are like this one, I would have no problem to detect it in a blind testing. Shortly: PN on steroids! Taste is loaded with massive red cherry flavors plus spice so huge, that I have never experienced it before. Did I mention black pepper?.A lot of people confuse these elements with acidity, that is visible here, but in positive way. It makes wine fresh, bright, vibrant Tannins are perfect. What else we have here? Minerals and some sweet notes of black fruits + raspberry
Smell is lovely. Another load of red cherry, minerals, strawberry, raspberry.
Don't judge this wine by first or second glass. I'm writing these review with sipping my third glass.
Wow - by the end of third glass, aromas of flowers pop up from nowhere.

Would I like to drink this kind of wine more often?
I'm not so sure. It looks like it's missing finesse and delicacy like PN has.

Best Regueiral ever? 100% Mencía from Ribeira Sacra, deep colour, black fruits on the nose, with freshness that anticipates a delicious acidity which is actually present in the mouth, and helps putting the 14% alcohol back in balance. Rounded in the mouth in a Galician style. Slightly rustic, but in a good way. Very lovely wine that works perfectly as aperitif, but can go very well with simple foods.

Some oak and vanilla, pronounced minerality and citrus, either it was closed or it was simple. I was expecting more out of these "pre-Phylloxera" vines. Will keep my other bottles for at least a year and see what comes out of it. (B-)
