2/19/23, 1:39 AM - Thanks for the notes. This is my favourite cuvée, especially this version w the 13/14 blend. Such a great champagne. Cheers!

2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Richebourg Richebourg Grand Cru Pinot Noir
From magnum this was the most accessible out of the top four 2002 DRC's. It has deliciously sweet red and black fruits. There was a touch of spice and some freshly grated ginger. It had a really sweet core and the finish was precise with some sinewy muscle. A very pretty and elegant Richebourg.

Dosage 6 gr/l.
Vinified in small and used oak casks from Burgundy. Contains old vines 860-45 years) from Cramant.
The nose is marked by the oak, aromas of rhum. On the palate very dry attack finishing with a slightly oaky end.
Somehow, I would have prefered less oak.

The wine looks Light gold colored. The legs are Fast. It smells like Lemon, Honeysuckle, Peach blossom, and Apple. The body is Light. The wine has Smooth texture. The wine finishes Medium. Great everyday wine. Definately buy again.

2/25/15, 11:40 AM - Well, I usually use my bottles of Lafite to make coq au vin, since Latour usually is a bit too tannic..

Birthday party in Budapest: Textbook Cornas, with a little of the rustic edge attributed to the appellation. Rather a traditional style (and lovely for that): bone dry taste, slender proportions, tight and crisp. But the depth is extraordinary, just as the fact that it keeps it's classic shape while having such concentration. So far from being hedonistic or sweet. Allspice, black pepper, oriental spices lead the nose with blackberries, dried plums. Perfect alcohol (13.5%) and acidity (highish). Very firm, unforgivingly tannic - you can already adore the grandness, but better to let it age in bottle for at least 2-3 years, before the first check. Probably will evolve and keep for decades.

1/1/14, 4:14 AM - Hello NZ, i had this two days ago, and i must say that your note is really spot on. I love these very concentrated yet slender wines. It´s almost elegant which probably is not the most common attribute to use for Cornas. Cheers!

PnP. Started slowly and needed an hour of air to reveal itself. This is a perfect wine, powerful yet elegant, very concentrated, kaleidoscopic complexity, impeccably balanced and unbelievably long.

Very elegant. Minerals, gunpowder and citrus on the nose. The structure of this wine is so delicious with it´s creamy texture and complex layer upon layer taste of lemon, biscuits, wet stone, whipped cream and coffee. All of this wrapped up in a very elegant toasted finish. Super!

12/14/12, 11:35 AM - I think it´s really delicious right now, but there´s no question that it will have a long future. I would not hesitate to open a bottle for christmas if i had a bunch of it, but i´m not sure i would drink it with turkey right now. I would probably choose something a bit more mature.
    Good luck and Merry Christmas!

11/1/12, 9:50 AM - I really agree with you! This was the WOTY for me in 2011. I just bought the remaining 2 bottles from the same source as the previous bottle, and i´m so happy there was some left. Worldclass wine!
