For anybody reading this who is considering buying this wine or any future vintages from Qupe, please note that there are potentially some shenanigans going on with these wines. The new owner of Qupe, Vintage Wine Estates, seem to be releasing this wine "2016 Qupe Syrah Bien Nacido Hillside Estate" with two different labels. One is marked as "Estate Bottled" with an ABV of 13.5% (you can find the tech sheet for this online). The other has the "Estate Bottled" language removed and is labeled with an ABV of 14.5% (yikes!). There is reason to suspect that Vintage Wine Estates bottled a second run of this label from the inferior barrels of Hillside wine that did not make the cut for the initial release and is trying to pass it off as the original.

So, if you are considering purchasing this wine or any future vintages of Qupe wine, please check carefully that what you are buying is what you think it actually is. Caveat emptor.
