I tasted through 5 of their vineyard designated pinots today (all 2011) and this was the best of the lot (this one, Eastside Road Neighbors, Bucher, Vista Verde and Weir. I am not going to post reviews for any of the others which I did not score above 87).

Burt Williams' Morning Dew Ranch has got life, lift, nuance, and finesse. Strawberry, violet, roses, orange, a hint of vanilla oak. I don't see much aging potential beyond a few years - its fairly light and flavor forward.

Still, from a cool Anderson Valley site, it avoids the heavy clod-like, cola tainted stuff that they dredge up from some of their other vineyards, but lacks the intensity and much of the underlying structure(s) required to go the distance.

As nice as I found it, at $100+ a bottle its no bargain!

2/28/13, 3:23 PM - The 87 was for the 2nd bottle I opened. I dumped the first one. Oddly the 2nd bottle was a litttle off as well but not corked. I got those 2 bottles with my fall allocation. In fact I was just out to the winery last week and picked up 3 more bottles of it plus 2 bottles of the 1999 Ferrington that was in there library. They are sending me a new bottle and I am sending them the cork at there request so they can test for TCA

2/28/13, 4:09 PM - Are you on there allocation list? I have about 9 cases of it from the various blocks; Coastlands, the estate, westwide, rochioli vinyard and Burt williams morning dew are some of my favorites from WS; I generally hold mine as well if there are younger vintages however when I have multiple of the same bottle I drink one early on and note it and then compare notes when I open the other bottles later on........ Try Lynmar Pinot Noirs; they are very good as well
