Over ripe red fruits - raspberry and red cherry mostly, and an attractive garrigue note on the nose. High intensity of aromas, and you can almost smell the alcohol. An overall feeling of "hot weather" or "California sun" depending on what you choose.

This continues - and increases - on the palate. The fruits are jammy here, and strawberry (jam) is added as well as fresh cracked black pepper, cherry cola and vanilla. Overall a powerful expression of PN. The jamminess is not to my palate for SRH PN but the intensity of both flavors and aromas is too nice to ignore.

Texturally, this is lovely. Medium + body, medium tannin, medium acid. Great structure. I really hope some age mellows out the fruit. It should drink well for 5+ more years. I say, age it for at least two for everything to settle down.

Decidedly in the new world style. Nose is candied cherries and almost off-puttingly so. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth with a moderate amount of acid accompanying the red fruit, cherry and cola notes. Finish calms down a bit, loses the overpowering fruit and becomes more coherent. Not a wine for everyone but I enjoyed it.

10/10/17, 7:27 PM - Update: enjoyed this wine again on 10/10/17 and the candied notes have softened and the nose presents more savory/meaty. Mouth feel is still rich with dark red fruit. Finish is short but still quite enjoyable but not necessarily a classic Pinot.

5/16/16, 10:25 AM - Apologies for the brusqueness of my previous comment, but do you really think this is a 100 point wine? Just curious.

major sweet fruitiness almost sugary and again, suspect for something out of balance; totally discombobulated; the alcohol content is 15.3%; I know that some like this style; I do not.

7/4/13, 11:51 AM - I can't help but feeling that this review as well as that of Beeman's is somewhat unfairly placed. It seems that these two reviewers are rating a "style" as opposed to an individual wine. While both do mention facets of the particular wine its clear that neither reviewer has an affinity for this style. This in itself is perfectly fine, however, in a mechanism such as CT giving abnormally low scores on a wine which clearly isn't being judged in its peer group gives a false impression to the casual viewer. Imagine if all "new world" wine lovers began giving slagging ratings to traditionally produced Burgundy or CDP. CT ratings would become useless
