2/14/16, 6:44 AM - Sorry for the confusion. I mentioned Canonica as a frame of reference for its scarcity, but I did not source my Accomasso stateside. Occasionally however, they pop up at auction and I've also heard that Chambers St Wines in NYC might get some 2007 Barolo. Happy hunting!
2/16/16, 7:23 PM - My fiancé and I bumped into Canonica outside il Quarto Stato once but we haven't made a cellar visit. Getting ready for our annual pilgrimage to Barolo in the spring. Shoot me an email, I'd like to know more about your visit. chazramos@hotmail.com
5/8/16, 12:41 PM - Who makes the freisa you do enjoy? I really liked GB Burlotto's 2012, although it compeltely different from any other freisa I've had... especially the G. Rinaldi '13 I'm drinking at the moment.
3/21/14, 3:03 PM - Good or bad? Tasting notes? BTW nice cellar list
9/4/15, 10:06 PM - One of my absolute favorite vintages under MT Mascarello. So wonderfully elegant and poised for the long term. Yes the 2010's are powerful and media endorsed... but I am confident that 2008 will be one of the great unsung vintages appreciated by those who truly know and understand the beauty of classic Nebbiolo. So glad to see such positive notes on CT.
10/23/15, 8:27 PM - I was thinking about opening a bottle soon, but now I'll wait ... guess you took one for the team, thanks!
9/18/16, 6:16 AM - Great notes, as always. How would you compare the '14 to the '13?
9/18/16, 12:57 PM - Very much so, thanks!
2/15/17, 4:03 AM - Agreed, the '12 Brunate is a real beauty at this early stage! I feel like G. Rinaldi, B. Mascarello, Canonica and GB Burlotto all made very pretty Barolo in 2012... even Cappellano's Nebbiolo d'Alba is irresistible. What's your take on the vintage for Nebbiolo?
3/13/17, 8:39 PM - I've been following your notes on my favorite Barolo producers for a while. You'll love how Burlotto's Monvigliero reflects the different vintages on this very unique terroir... and I agree, an afternoon with Fabio is a special experience!
2/6/17, 9:30 PM - I think this style and this bottling is absolutely brilliant, but it's clearly not your thing... and I appreciate your candor and thoughtfulness! Many people post declarative statements, but your selfawarnesss and humility just adds more credibility. While my preferences are at total odds with yours, I find great value in the context with which you present your experience. Cheers!
4/18/17, 6:23 PM - Ditto. I've been meaning to write a tasting note on the last two bottles of '14, but this captures everything I would have said.
2/15/17, 8:21 PM - Ditto! The pros tend to be cautious when scoring a rogue wine like this, but it's really a special expression of Nebbiolo.
12/16/16, 3:29 AM - Ditto! Drinking absolutely spectacular right now... it would almost be a shame to miss this window.
2/3/17, 4:58 PM - Were you referring to the '15 in that last sentence?
1/18/20, 7:58 AM - I’m surprised (and happy!) to find tasting notes on this! Im not sure what’s considered the first “official” vintage of M8 but suffice it to say 2015-2018 were all beautifully done and a rare, very special treat. These Baroli are as genuine as the guy who made them.
4/15/13, 4:09 PM - Couldn't have said it better myself.
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
